Berwick V Ipswich (koc) Saturday, May 9th. 7pm.

well done Ippo - you should take all the points in the league meetings and progress down at Foxhall in the return

We also thought we'd beat Sheffield last Monday and we got stuffed at home so nothing is certain with this Ipswich team.

Ritchie on borrowed engine and looked a completely different rider. Heeps hurt wrist and unlikely to ride tomorrow.

Don't like the sound of that.

Is double r/r allowed? ;)

Did cam have a fall?

Could be a hangover from the one at Sheffield.

Fell with Stichaur in a tight Ht 10 first turn, he walked back to the pits but was unable to take his place in the re-run.

Thanks for the info Screm.

Hopefully its not a full recurrence of the old problem.

Where does the problem lie then? any ideas how to fix it?

Numerous fans from all clubs have voice their disapproval of the guest rider system, yet the BSPA seem to make the situation worse every season with their changes IMO.No point of putting ideas forward IMO .

And from Manzarez' R/R rides and our Guest for an in form Covatti, we scored a combined two points! We were more than justified in our fears.

We've now given ourselves a great chance to progress, and that is only because none of us were expecting Hawkins to suddenly spring to life and bang in 14 points!!

He's been woeful and I can only assume he was riding an engine that he's been waiting for?

Hawkins was decent around Berwick in 2004 when he was a Bandit,so you could be right regarding equipment.

Small steps, at least it was a win tonight, for the majority of the meeting I didn't even think that was going to happen. Don't think we will get anything at Ipswich, but like I say small steps.

Heat 13 was the best race I have seen at Shielfield this season, two really good riders, Lawson and Barker going head to head, Lawson got the better coming out of the second bend, Barker chased him for four laps, the classic cutback on the fourth bend worth the entrance fee itself.

For me Hawkins was the trump card. Must say I was also impressed with Stefan Neilsen. He was on pace with Barker and Worrall and looks a good prospect.

Richard Hall was rusty, to be expected, but showed glimpses. Obviously needs more track time.Could turn out to be a good signing though.

And how good was it to see Liam Carr making a comeback after the meeting? Hopefully he will get a spot somewhere to re-start his career.

Sadly couldn't make it tonight, due to rock 'n' roll commitments.

Was told by someone who had just come back from the meeting that was a good entertaining meeting.

How did folks on here enjoy it.

I think we are all agreed taking 4 points to Ipswich is a tough ask, but...you never know in speedway.

However, simple question: did you think it was an entertaining speedway meeting?

It was reasonably entertaining due to the scoreline being so tight throughout.

Hawkins was superb he always scores well round Shielfield and was a trump card for the Witches tonight.

Barker looked better but Richard Lawson would have had the better of him twice if it wasn't for bike trouble slowing him up on the last bend of Heat 13 allowing Barker to cut back up the inside of him so I still don't think he or his machinery are quite 100% yet.

As I said before the meeting there was always only going to be one team progressing from this cup tie.

Was much better racing. More like it should be entertainment wise. for berwick worrell was good guest greenwood i cant fault for effort. Reserves for ippo and their guest lawson were excellent. Think biggest miss for berwick was alex.

Track was much better riders seemed to be able to attack it more. Just shows keep watering track as a dry slick track no good. The dampness seem to hold shale together helping grip and lines etc.

Actually enjoyed meeting and look forward to more like this.
