Wolves Vs Pirates 04/may/2015

Recommended Posts

A rather unexpected stroll in the park against a weakened Pirates outfit, clearly missing their best rider in magic. The Wolves programme certainly did the best to mess up the Poole line up. Try had holder on his new 7 point average but still had watt on 6.71. So which averages applied?

haven't seen a poorer looking Poole line up at wolves in many a year . outgated, out fought and out battled all too routinely.at least holder looked like something resembling a GP rider. Besides north the rest were awful.

WOLVES

FRED - did a decent job but still not looking overly quick. Protected Jacob well which is exactly what he needs right now at number 2. 3/5

JACOB - was unbeaten in the races he completed and looks the business as a second string. 4/5 MOTM

TOBBY - not a very convincing match but still comes up with a decent ride per meeting to gives us a taster just what he can do. 2/5

RICKY - solid effort as has been the case all season long. 4/5

PK - back in his rightful place as a heat leader. A solid and consistent 5 rides. 3.5/5

LEWIS - in the battle of the big hitting reserves he won by a mile. Beaten only once by Newman in heat 8. 4/5

JOSH - was excellent in both the reserves races so more than did his job 4/5

POOLE

WATT - won heat 10 out of the blue but otherwise largely absent 1.5/5

HOLDER - 3 good wins and lost a great battle to PK in that heat 10 battle. What is a GP rider doing on a 7 point average tho? Has he really been riding that poorly? 3.5/5

NORTH - 2 excellent wins and has really improved this season with the Pirates, who obviously know how to look after their aussies. 3/5

GOMOLSKI - the high flying in form pole made to look decidedly ordinary but perhaps expected. 0.5/5

GRAJZCONEK - worked hard in heat 3 but went on strike after. 1.5/5

ROSE - pretty awful, beat no one. Starke would have done better 0.5/5

NEWMAN - very below performance from kyle, gave Blackbird little competition, hopefully his is OK after the smash in heat 12.2/5

Good to see a good amount of travelling Poole fans, including one Steve shovlar

I have no issue with Holder riding at 2 if thats what his average dictates.

It makes no difference if Holder rides at 2 and bangs in 13 if his replacement at 1 doesnt score much.

It only becomes an issue if the rider at is world class which Watt isnt

not what im saying.

Forget Janowski.

Im talking about whoever replaces Holder at 1 while he goes to 2.

If it was say KK or Tai or Ward then of course its an issue.

But effectively he is replaced at 1 by a rider who isnt his equal or better so i cant se how Holder at 2 benefits Poole that much.

I know that when its heat 13 i would still rather have Holder and Magic out there then Watt and Magic..

The points Holder gains at 2 will be counter balanced by Watt having harder rides. Might get away with it at home but not away.

Unless Poole make changes they could struggle for top 4.

Coventry, Belle Vue and Kings Lynn look certs for the top 4 and Wolves have started well to

Agree with you unless changes are made we are toast, in fairness Holder was the only bright point on a otherwise miserable night, it could have been different as in the first running of heat 12 we were on a 5-1 with Blackbiird falling on the first bend and knew at that point we wouldn't get anything and then Newman's injury in the re-run but these things happen and hope next time we visit Monmore we can at least fight our corner.

Good win for Wolves over a weakened Poole team.As for the racing well in the first 9 heats there wasn't any, just a trapping contest, even Wolves best pairing of Lindgren and PK couldn't make an inch on Dakota North when he trapped.Three Fifths of the meeting gone and nothing to see !.Thankfully after heat 9 the racing did improve slightly when in started raining and we did eventually get our first genuine outside pass of the meeting in heat 15.If that's the best 2 top teams can serve up on a Bank holiday,on a well prepared track,in front of a good crowd for 18 quid than speedway is in trouble. After waiting a few years for the product to improve I'm now resigned to the fact that it won't,same can be said for the atmosphere which is like a morgue week in week out. After 28 years of going every week to Monmore it might be the time to think about doing something else on a Monday night.

I agree with you, there was little passing last night, and therefore not that entertaining. Also agree that there is very little atmosphere these days. I don't go away any more, but I assume it's pretty much the same everywhere. Porky does try but he has very little coming back to him.

Porky as you call him is awful, on a par with York at Coventry.

There is no comparison. Porkie is the most entertaining around. At least he tries to get a atmosphere. I can't think of one place I've visited that has better entertainment value. I will give you he is a marmite kind of presenter. York is just beyond boring - you can't say the same thing about Porkie!

I like Porky, he fills the gaps well, keeps the crowd well informed but it's afraid to make a twit of himself if theres a gap. I get how some might not like him though.
