Thanks for the info'.

Our first foreign adventure in about 2000 was a similar SWC fixture at Landshut. It was Germany, USA (with John Cook!) and Denmark and ?

Looking forward to a return visit next week after we go to St.Johann tomorrow for the SGP qualifier.

Hope the weather gods are good to us.

A full strength Russian team could really shake up the medal positions

They could win it! As long as they can get a 4th rider who can pick up a few points they stand a chance. I hope they take it serious - if the Brits can't win it I like the Laguytas and Emil so would be happy with the Russians winning it.

Loktajev or Tarasenko. Loktajev rode on a russian license in Elitserien last season where he scores 56p from 32 heats.

His website says that have double citizenship (Russian/Ukrainian). http://www.loktaev.pl/index.php/alex

Tarasenko rode for Rus in the qualifier. Scored 7 p from 5 heats but had two exclusions. http://www.sportowefakty.pl/zuzel/wydarzenie/35193

Tarasenko is also in Piraterna's squad in Elitserien this year.

Both riders are very talented and could well cause some upsets at SWC if picked.

I'd wager this was a far better meeting than the Pairs shown on Eurosport last night. Pity the cameras were in the wrong Country.

Landshut was rain affected, too. The start of this SWC qualifyer was delayed by one-and-a-half hours for track remedy work. Zagar and Sayfutdinov were not keen to ride on a very deep track, so the track workers scraped a lot of the wet top layer of the track surface off. Racing was eventually o.k, though not overly spectacular, but, yes, it was a better meeting than what I saw on tv of the pairs event in Denmark.

Biggest talking point was the lack of a reserve rider in the SWC - both Germany and Slovenia were beaten by losing one of their riders to injury early on in this meeting.

Its a problem that needs to be addressed though should not be open to abuse, it has to be better that a team can continue to field a full team throughout the meeting rather than going one rider short in certain races.

Don't know what u mean by "open to abuse." Let teams have a reserve, and allow the reserve to have up to five rides, to cover injury or out of form rider. It is a team event.

It would difficult to prevent abuse I think, maybe only after approval of track doctor or something but that wouldn't be 100& certain either.

The other options would be to allow free use of a reserve. Basically 5-men teams with only scheduled heats for 4 riders.

Neither is perhaps ideal but at least the latter would prevent a team from loosing because of one rider getting injured.

Like Sweden in SBPC yesterday when Ljung crashed out.

Why would a non-riding reserve who can take up to 5 rides be any worse than a pairs meeting where you have a non-riding reserve who can take rides?! Just let teams declare anyone they like at reserve, if Poland go with Hampel, GB with Tai and Australia with Holder and chose to use that rider in all 5 of the last 5 heats then thats just tactics!

Countries would not participate in Tests without reserves, GP's would not run without reserves and so on. Making a team compete without a rider in 3 or 4 races in a FIM sanctioned event is grossly unfair. Russia may still have won but teams and spectators were short-changed.

Spectators were also short changed when they went from 25 to 20 races at the same time. the only reason it went to 4 man teams is that the prize money on offer is so pathetic it hardly covers travel/payment for 4 riders let alone 5.
