Goodiepatchie
I will say one thing....i do miss the traditional wheeling of the bikes out then the riders doing a couple of practice starts/laps before the meeting, Felt it got the crowd up before the start of the meeting, they seem to do this al almost every other track just not berwick, for whatever reason? Instead we have them walking out and then go round on a playmobile van thing. yeah me too that's how a parade should be !! Not sure who's idea the walk out then round in the van is probably Barrie's another thing that needs changed

Completely agree, the practice laps really set up the atmosphere for the first heat.
Tardis
Ok I don't often post on here but I would just like to make a couple of points. 1. At the moment the crowds are no way bigger than the football and maybe if the speedway said what the crowd was like the football does we would know. 2. The improvements on the crowd side of the fence are down to Berwick rangers supporters club not the speedway. 3. In all walks of life there will be people who are never happy 100% of the time speedway is no different and there is also a lot of people who moan for moanings sake, but I think you will find a lot of the people who moan and complain at Berwick are loyal supporters who have followed the team all over the country for years and turn up week in week out and pay there money to way h their team
penchev
Completely agree, the practice laps really set up the atmosphere for the first heat. Mabye this could be suggested to the promotion. I know it might not be the answer, but certainly maybe just maybe could pick up the mood in the stadium before the meeting starts.
Normski
Anything to make a better atmosphere is worth considering doesn't help when they can't play background music until 6-45pm

screm
I would also like to see the return of bikes out on parade, as long as we aren`t sitting there for ages then I think it would be a great way to start the night, that of course is dependant on our parade presenter getting on with introducing the riders. Absolutely agree with you, 99% of people complaining do it from concern for the welfare of the club not malice. Not one of us want to see the promotion walk away, we love our speedway. It seems that some see any kind of criticism as a personal attack on the promotion, which of course it isn't, nobody wants to see the speedway fail.
DSC67
I sent an email to the the club a couple of seasons ago on the subject of a traditional parade on one of the rare occasions when they actually held one saying how much I preferred it to the current way of doing things. I received a reply telling me that the fans , especially the children prefers the new way of doing things as that meant that they could actually see the riders faces as due H&S regulations riders have to wear helmets now when they do practice laps , whereas on the back of the "Banditmobile" they don't . Personally I don't see why the can't come to a compromise and do both , where the riders do a lap on the back of the truck first then after they have been introduced they can have a few practice laps .

Even with helmets on, I like a few practice laps before the first heat. All adds to the atmosphere.

I liked the old parades too. I'll always tell anyone that wants to listen, that Stevie Mac always did his practice starts in front of me on the back straight...cap back to front. But i quite like the way Edinburgh do the parades when i've been there the last two or three seasons. The Number 1's tootle round together, then the 2's etc. No helmets on there, but they do go on for the few laps of warming up, practice starts etc. Depending on the weather of course.
penchev
Seems that some of the fans would like to see the traditional parade return, Even if they can/could tailor it to please all fans alike, i.e bring the riders out on the playmobile truck to the starting gate, quick introduction (no need for any drivvle) Jump on there bikes for a couple of laps, then straight on with heat 1. This suggestion/thoughts has added a certain air of positivity on here, rather than a slanging match etc. Edited May 6, 2015 by penchev

DSC67
They tried sending the riders around in pairs on their bikes a couple of times last year , not sure how well it was or wasn't received by the masses . Personally as I have said I've always preferred the old style practice starts type of parade , it gives the fans a chance to look at the riders starting technique and also I think it helps to give us a chance to see the various bikes close up
topsoil
I remember my first time at Armadale, the riders were introduced in the old-fashioned way, jumped on the bikes and went to do a couple of practice laps. Michal Makovsky obviously didn't realise how tight the bends were and almost did a wall of death. It was the sign of things to come.
Arson fire
Just wait and see then if the promotion pick up on what has been suggested on here then In that case... Can a few people suggest dick's mic is turned off or Berwick employ a translator?
StevePark
Think at Newcastle riders carry there helmets with them for parade then jump onto there bikes for a couple of practice laps And wave at the pits as they make their way to the middle of the dog track..... At Workington, they have a 'proper' parade and do a lap on their bikes minus helmets, but riders aren't allowed to do any practice starts. I think a 'proper' parade with bikes should be made mandatory, unless there is a threat of rain, then just 'get on with it.' Also think clubs should be fined if the first heat starts late. At Berwick for example - 6.50pm parade - first heat 7pm. At Newcastle - 6.20pm parade - first heat 6.30pm etc.
