Berwick V Workington (lc) Saturday, May 2

Recommended Posts

some are still here reminiscing about how great Peter was

Berwick bandits fans THE most fickle fans in speedway

Yep, and they were the very same ones who were on Peter's back all the time.

Like I say, they disappeared pretty quickly when it came to the crunch. One of whom also broke what was clearly an empty promise.

I heard some real crap last night from the same person who told me Katajisto was definitely signed as a replacement for Voldrich.

Make of that what you will...

A few rotten apples...

There are a few folk who don't come any more, not because of what is on track, but they have been worn down by the relentless negativity of some.

That really is quite a sad situation.

Still, I'll enjoy the season and hope for another.

due to the negativity on here?

No, due in particular to a couple of what they described as "track Nazis".

Just got fed up of hearing the same record playing in their ears every week.

It's really becoming self destructive.

due to the lack of brain cells the record is on repeat

It's strange, their eyes kind of glaze over before they launch into a diatribe that I have been listening to for the best part of a decade now.

You could be right.

The main problem in Berwick is the fact that the nearest A&E is 50 miles away. When we had an a&e here st johns used to supply 2 ambulances every race night and this worked fine.

You can't compare Berwick to Newcastle because the RVI is only 10 mins away I don't know what the answer is I wish I did

Exactly my point. The hospital is just up the road, but our management STILL provide two ambulances and abundant trained staff. With Berwick having such a strict cut-off point the promotion must realise that with a prolonged journey time, having only one fully trained medico on hand will eff. end the meeting in the event of an injury of any magnitude.

The distance from the track to the nearest A&E has nothing to do with it. Two Ambulances arrive at Brough at 6 o'clock every week for the 6.30pm start and p all meeting (unless one has to go away with a rider, of course). These are supplied by NE Rescue & Medical Services and come with a Paramedic.

There are 2 ambulances every night at Berwick the tracks own and one supplied by rapid reaction but we only have a doctor or a paramedic not both unless its an FIM meeting or sky

Two Ambulances - At least 1 doctor + at least 1 Paramedic, should be a solution

You are correct if it was to fold at the end of the season, it would be gone forever, fact.

Maybe I`m the only positive one on here, but Berwick have had troubled times in the past yet have kept going, I hope that remains the case for many years to come, but your right in the respect that if it does indeed close then seeing it return at a later stage would be virtually impossible.

I remember when Peter announced that he was moving on, some of the most vocal critics just disappeared.

Hopefully, if we are in that situation again (which I hope we are not), they will step up to the mark this time.

Or, it will be gone forever. It would never get back through planning again.

It goes back to the old saying, be careful what you wish for.

What do you mean step up to the mark?

Not sure where you are on about?

People on about Luke being at number 7 (told in a previous program Alex wants to be at number 6),

People on about the VIP club making money for the promotion but probably spending a lot of it on buses and the races etc (good thing for the members).

People wishing Alex would race for 4 laps (not sure if it's bike problems) when he is last as others could fall off or pack in.

Just some of the talking points from the 3 matches I have attended so far this season.

I didn't hear anyone shouting abuse at the promotion.

I will continue supporting the club by going to as many home matches as I can make
