Leicester Lions V Kings Lynn Stars, 19:30 Bank Hol Monday 4th May

Recommended Posts

The only good thing to happen last night from a lions prospective was that the surprise evacuation procedure test was passed with flying colours .

I think it's best not to mention the lions on track performance for fear of having my knuckles wrapped again by the promotion at Leicester.

Good. Was it Ronan Keating who said?

You say it best when you say nothing at all.

Thanks for the heads up on the evacuation test though. We were wondering about that !

Okay I'm being a bit thick I know, but that's not really anything unusual so I will ask......what the hell is the 'surprise evacuation procedure test'?

Was surprised at this 'Evacuation procedure test' I thought it was just a exercise to empty the stadium quickly because they wanted to shut up shop.

No problems though......

Last night after the last race the stadium stewards were tested with a mock evacuation where they had to evacuate all the spectators from the stadium as quickly & safely as possible as if there was an emergency within the stadium.

This was all to fall in line with local council requirements.

Far from it & the club are going to press stating that it was not sour grapes to deny the Stars a deserved victory parade but this has been scheduled since February to take place yesterday because it was ideal with no MDL racing to follow

Firstly, I would like thank the Leicester Lions promotion/management for rushing the meeting through in drizzle despite the fact they were getting battered by a rampant Stars team. Not all teams would act in such an honourable manner. Bravo.

Secondly, my god the Stars needed that away performance. Top performances all around. The 3 riders all 'under pressure' all stepped up. Porsing's move up inside Doyle down the backstraight forcing him into an error on a tactical was crucial IMO. Morris was trapping like a maniac all night and although sometime looked a bit awkward he performed well. And Kenneth, much maligned Kenneth, well he was a world better than recently, maybe his performances over the weekend had perked him up a bit?

Race of the night was Max Fricke and Niels. Don't push a GP rider out wide to the fence and not expect them to come right back at you! Good tough racing.

couldn't believe how totally disinterested Bjarne Pedersen looked!!

When Coventry were there a month ago, he gated on a win/paid win in all 4 rides but ended with 0030 because he was being picked off - like you say, he just looked disinterested and had no fight at all.

The signing of Bjarne gave me quiet optimism for the season especially as he would bring experience and hopefully a good haul of points in away meetings. Sadly his form is completely out of the window and frankly I can’t see him being retained for much longer. The challenge for the Lions is who could they get in to replace him?

It probably involved David Hemsley, a toilet, and a lot of loo roll

And you have to fight on that track cos there are ways round :-)

Tell me someone, was that proper red shale on that track?

Hopefully the mood will last until about 10pm on Saturday night.

I didn't know Hans was going to be missing. So if guests are allowed for both riders Leicester will be strengthened then. What's Rory doing at the weekend? He seems to like riding against Coventry.

Yes Hans is missing and with the Danish Championships & the best pairs on Sat, it means the choice of guests is limited.

Would be very surprised if Rory wasn't guesting for Leicester
