Leicester Lions V Kings Lynn Stars, 19:30 Bank Hol Monday 4th May

Recommended Posts

Well, an early start on this one....

Will the Lions face a Kings Lynn backlash after their lacklustre performance at Belle Vue last night..

No, but Coventry will probably face it tomorrow.

Leicester still have Greg Walasek missing and their guest rider options are minimal. Only Swindon & Belle Vue are not riding on this date and Craig Cook is the only rider who would be considered most suitable but Edinburgh are riding at Scunthorpe also. This match is however in the afternoon so it may be possible for him to ride for Leicester if he can be persuaded.

Josh Auty is and he rides in both.

Would think Nick Morris will be odds on to guest again as it will be more than 8 days since he last guested.

Looking forward to a great night's speedway.

Szymon is proving to be a real asset and is riding really well at home.

MM came back last week to show that he is ready to rock and we need BP to show the kind of form he showed in his final race last week and put together four solid races.

JD needs to just keep doing what he does but make sure his bikes are up to lasting four laps each time he comes out.

Missing Greg of course. He was really the standout rider for me in the first few matches. He seemed really up for it and it's a shame about his freak injury at BV.

Can see a close home win on Monday unless we really end up with KL wanting to prove themselves after recent disappointments.

Wonder what David Hemsley will post in his Mercury column this week?

Is Lions rider availability the reason this meeting doesn't start until 7.30pm?

Would have thought that more away fans would travel had the start been 5.30pm that's all. I'll be there anyhow as it's my closest EL track.

Stars need to take something from this meeting, cannot keep taking 3pt wins at home and big fat zeros away. Any idea on how Ashley Morris does around Beaumont Park? He gates quite well so should be alright : )

As for Kenneth, his first few rides in the ELRC were dynamite, the rest...not so much. Let's hope he get's back on form.

Lions issued a press release on 4th March saying the 3 bank holiday fixtures ( 4th May, 25th May,& 31st Aug ) would now all start at the later time of 7.30, to enable Josh Auty to ride, following Scunthorpes fixtures on the same day. I don't know what time they were originally due to start.

Fair enough, good planning on their behalf. More important for them to have a full team than have more away fans I guess.

Will Auty be able to pass Kerr when he's outgated? We'll find out on Monday.......

An exciting away performance that should be commended. All 7 riders played their part in a thoroughly impressive display. In front from the word go and never looked like being beaten. Once Dolye had fell on that TR ride, the match was all but over. It would be wrong , and difficult to pick out a Star performer as they all played their part. But Rory was at the heart of everything. Apart from leading from the front, he was always at the pit gate urging on his team mates, and greeting them back with high fives. generating the obvious team spirit shown by all.

Looking at some statistics, We supplied 10 of the 14 heat winners and was last only 3 times. that shows how all the team performed well........ against a very mediocre Lions side. Doyle and the two FTR battled and fought well also Max Fiske , but their other riders offered little... Bjarne Pederson was a shadow of his former self and that was sad. Must say Simon Lambert impressed me with his fight, and tenacity. I was surprised how he had progressed into a really good FTR.

Was impressed with the way the meeting flowed, with the rain never far away, the ref kept the races flowing. It was unfortunate to miss HT15, but it wasn't necessary. I'm in no doubt had the result been in the balance 15 would've been run..... Home before 11...... Can't be bad.....

Enjoyed our trip to Leicester
