Trevor
It amazes me that we have such a wonderful purpose made speedway stadium and people are finding cause to knock the project in some way. If people don't like Belle Vue's stadium having the title 'National Speedway Stadium', lets draw up a list of all the modern purpose built Speedway stadiums in the UK and then pick one from the list.
Humphrey Appleby
Both Peterborough and Kings Lynn are north of Birmingham so why include them in the south. Â Because the generally accepted division between 'north' and 'south' is a diagonal line drawn from the Bristol Channel to the Wash, which both Peterborough and King's Lynn fall to the south of. Â The North 'proper' though, is the southern border of Cheshire and Yorkshire. Anything between there and the northern border of Gloucestershire, Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Norfolk is the Midlands. Under no definition is Cambridgeshire and Norfolk in the Midlands, although you might argue that Peterborough was historically in Northamptonshire and thus has been in the Midlands. Â It's nothing to do with knocking, and everything to do with whether Belle Vue's stadium has any official backing from the BSPA as the national stadium. Otherwise, every track could claim to be a national stadium.
Daniel Smith
The thing that puts the National Stadium down for me is that it's being built in the rain capital of Great Britain. Â You only have to see the amount of call off's Belle Vue have to deal with. Â Now add in the SWC, British Finals etc and it could become a bit of a laughing stock

It is primarily the new "Home of the Aces"
sommelier
Â Well Belle Vue is not a National Stadium, regardless of what it may claim. The nearest track to being a national speedway stadium is Coventry, which could have and should have been the premier venue of the sport, although now sadly under threat. Â Ipswich is not in any way shape or form central to anything - nor are the road links to it especially great. Neither is Belle Vue really, as whilst it might be close to theoretical geographic centre of the UK, it is not speedway wise. There are only six tracks north of Belle Vue, whilst there are eleven in the South (if you include King's Lynn and Peterborough) and eight in the Midlands. I'm a bit lost, what the bloody hell as geography got to do with the National Stadium ? every one should be doing cart wheels that we are getting a purpose Stadium built!

pugwash
Track looks a bit rough! I blame it on Olsen. Not sure about the 'figure of eight' at turn 3, might catch a few out.
Bradders
If people are moaning about Manchester not be central enough for all, what about the football and England playing in LONDON, that is pretty bang in the middle for everyone in England!! Also the World Cup events have always been hosted in the South, like King's Lynn, Poole, Reading, Eastbourne, Swindon. The only time it came North was in 2001, when Sheffield hosted an event and besides that was Coventry. For me Wolves would have been a better venue for fans for the World Cup, as i think it is the fairest and best track in the league.

Trevor
As for the rain, I believe covers are part of the new stadium, so although covers don't help in a downpour, they would have saved quite a few meetings down the years. Stoke Potter
For me Wolves would have been a better venue for fans for the World Cup, as i think it is the fairest and best track in the league. That's the funniest thing I've heard in a while! Seriously, Wolves? A Merry-go-round! Scoot down the straight, fold the bike in half, scrub all the speed off and go back where you came from. Creep up the inside of someone if you're lucky! What a joke. Big track, wide open spaces, multiple lines and the correct amount of banking is what's required. To be fair there's nothing in this country that totally fits that bill but hopefully the new BV might if they don't balls it up. KIRKYLANE
The new track at Belle Vue is approx 350 m. in length . approx 20 m shorter than Hyde road. Â Straights are 13 m . wide.. approx 42 feet in real money!!! Â Bends are 17 m. wide . approx 55 feet in real money !!! Â There is banking on the straights and the bends. Â The first and second bends will not be identical to the third and fourth bends to provide different race paths . Â All in all it looks like a recipe for multiple race lines and accompanied good racing. Â The stadium is designated as The National Speedway stadium as approved by the BSPA and also at the express wishes of Manchester City Council who stated it was part of the remit of them being involved in the Belle Vue Sports village which would include speedway. Â The total bill for the Belle Vue Sports village is 11.5 million which includes the Speedway Stadium , the 2000 seater Basketball stadium ,the upgrade of the Belle Vue Leisure Center and a 3G pitch. .
