OveFundinFan
Sometime before March 19th 2016 - opening meeting Peter Craven Memorial  Belle Vue Aces website says the steel girders for the main grandstand are now on site.  If we get a dry (ish) summer progress would be at a good pace. Be good to see the track laid before winter. Edited May 2, 2015 by OveFundinFan

The White Knight
Hope it goes ok. Well said PW. Â So do I. Â It is very rare these days when something good happens in British Speedway. We should ALL be celebrating this - I think it is marvelous and I genuinely hope that it is really successful. Â My adopted Team too - since I was about SIX. Â 'ACES' through and through - that's me.
SteveLyric2
BELIEVE over 1500 tickets have already been sold ... 'Over 1500 snapped up in first 24 hours' according to BV website!! I assume that means 'paid-for'? Edited May 3, 2015 by Skidder1

pugwash
First metal work for grandstand went up yesterday : Â http://bellevueaces.co/newsitem.aspx?id=1380 Good going, won't take long to erect the rest. Cladding, masonary and fitting out will be time consuming though.
Midland Red
2 x adults and 2 x £8 children is £56 not £64. And if the kids are under 12 then they are free.  And there's no banking for you to stand on. You'll either be under the covered terracing of the back straight stand, or the terracing on the bends.  And of course it will be a nice warm, dry evening
Tsunami
Â And of course it will be a nice warm, dry evening Didn't bother those attending other new tracks say at Redcar, Somerset, Scunny, Leicester, etc. It's the occasion that counts.
Grand Central
Didn't bother those attending other new tracks say at Redcar, Somerset, Scunny, Leicester, etc. It's the occasion that counts. Â It did when Kirky Lane opened in 1988 and Odsal in 1986. Was there for both openers being rained off. Â Absolutely massive crowds turned away without seeing a race. And they didn't really come back in the same numbers later. Edited May 9, 2015 by Grand Central
SPD444
There has been some conversations about early booking and ticket availability in earlier posts. For me, being able to book now has meant I can find a hotel room at a reasonable cost near to the stadium and not have to pay inflated rates in the city centre. I was also interested in hospitality and, I agree with others, it did take a bit of perseverance to get a response having sent emails to most of those on the belle vue web site and rang and rang the number shown, it was eventually answered by George Carswell who was manning the phones, I asked him to call back about the cost of hospitality and it arrived in the person of Chris Morton who was great in sorting it out for me. The tickets are in block D, and cost £65 which includes entry into the Peter Craven Suite, three course meal and meet and greet with the riders,VIP's etc. Alcohol is extra by the way. I live in North London so the cost of this, and the tickets generally, for an event like this is cheap.
Mike.Butler
if manchester city are at home at 5.30 on the tele that sat evening mightn't this meeting actually not take place when stated??
TonyMac
The Belle Vue opener is bound to be a complete sell out - and deservedly so after all the effort that has gone in to make it happen. Â Fans will travel from all over the UK, and some from overseas, to be part of an historic track opening. After all, it's not any old venue - it's BELLE VUE, the most famous club name in world speedway. Â I'm sure Mort and David Gordon will also ensure there is a strong nostalgic feel to the evening, in addition to honouring Peter Craven's name. Be great to see the likes of Alan Wilkie, Eric Broadbelt, Norman Nevitt, Jim Yacoby, Bill Powell, etc, there, along with the obligatory appearance of Peter Collins and more recent favourites such as Shawn Moran, Joe Screen and Jason Crump. SCB
What would be great ifs if one of the earlier meeting could be a Team GB vs Australia meeting. It's it after all the National Speedway Stadium and what bigger enemy than the Aussies?!

Bruiser McHuge
if manchester city are at home at 5.30 on the tele that sat evening mightn't this meeting actually not take place when stated?? I can't see that being an issue should it happen.....the stadiums aren't next door to each other and the policing for the speedway crowd wouldn't be excessive., compared to football....I'm sure the police would allow both.
