pugwash
Think someone's having a wind up. It's not like football where they play throughout the winter and need to be able to thaw the pitch out from snow or ice. How often do you have to thaw a speedway track out from March to October? certainly not enough to make the expense of undersoil heating worthwhile. It's not to thaw out the track but to thaw out the 'magic' water hydrant that floods the track (in case of a delayed flight etc).

In fact it was never installed. They discovered a much cheaper way of avoiding matches if riders are missing. You just call it off and the best thing about it is that the authorities don't take any action. Edited March 5, 2016 by Aces51
A ORLOV
Backstraight terracing started going in, will be a great view : http://tinyurl.com/zpb7qyl A slight concern with the picture above and the weather at the moment is will the stadium and track be ready by the 19th?. Could use it to warm up Newmans goggles so they don't mist up. Much like Newmans goggles the pipes aren't being used on track, though at least not having the pipes doesn't break any rules. SteveLyric2
Aren't they supposed to be having a full 'test run' of all services and facilities on 13th??
Phil The Ace
Aren't they supposed to be having a full 'test run' of all services and facilities on 13th?? Got a small test Thursday afternoon where they will test turnstiles and an evacuation. But they need 500 to attend. And being an afternoon it will be hard to get that many people. Luckily they are using the local school for help. Then on 13th it's a charity football match between man city old boys and celebrities all stars. We need 2000-2500 to attend this

Rob B
There will be raised flat terracing round 3rd and 4th bend. Most of the track has been completed for weeks, just that section of 3rd and 4th bend that isn't.

ColinMills
APOLOGIES for wrong thread here, but seeing as philiprising has just posted on this thread, just wondered if speedway star could change "PK" too start stories, (AS front page this week) in future that relate to kildemand, as im sure the majority of readers relate to karlsson as PK.......Again, apologies for butting in this thread! Rob B
What does this mean exactly? Raised flat terracing? Is that a permanent or temporary thing? Permanent, it's flat terracing but raised up above track level. Temporary grandstands will be built on top for World Cup.

martinmauger
The mystery to me is how Aces fans are able to sleep - I couldn't if something similar happened in Hull. When the track was being built at Craven Park in early 1995 I used to bunk off college every week to check on progress and never really beleived it wasn't a dream until I spent an excellent couple of hours standing in the mud talking to Paul Smith, Nigel Crabtree, Lee Dicken & Grenville Dicken. After all that I missed the press day due to illness, but hey hoe. Having some knowledge of trying for a new track / stadium, believe me what Chris Morton, David Gordon, etc have pulled off is something close to a miracle getting the new stadium and I'm not at all surprised it has taken as (relatively) long as it has. The very best of luck to all connected with Belle Vue....
