New Science
Surely a SEC meeting won't happen in the UK while the Lagutas are riding in the series. What's the point of having an SEC meeting in Britain if the Brits are barred from taking part. BuxtonTiger
There are a number of restrictions in place from the planning permission: Â For example, meetings can be held on Wednesday, Friday and Saturdays only - 18:00 to 22:30 There shall be no more than 43 meetings during the main season of which no more than 25 meetings will be held on Fridays and no more than 18 meetings on Wednesdays or Saturday There shall be 7 hours of practice sessions 3 of which will be Sundays (main season) or Saturdays (out of season). The practice sessions shall start no later than 12:00 (midday) and finish no later than 18:00. If I read this correctly and there was an FIM event at Belle Vue on a Saturday and it was rained off, when would it be rerun as it appears that like Berwick (last year) there will be no facility for a Sunday meeting. Indeed it would appear the next date would be Wednesday. Should this be correct, why would the FIM even think about allocating any fixtures to Belle Vue?

Since OneSport took over EC and turned it to SEC -> increased total of FIM and FIM Europe meetings, qualis and semifinals have in both championships been ridden on friday evenings as well as on bank Holiday mondays. There's just too much meetings for all of them to have a saturday slot.

stratton
Bet Oldace thinks that's just small beer. Well the beer up north is certainly better than in the south,at the Shay the Halifax clubhouse served a great pint of bitter.
ColinMills
if meetings wed/fri and sats, how can they host the world cup? that's thurs for the play off?
Humphrey Appleby
So what is the point of planning permission if it planned to get special dispensation. Why not just get the correct permission in the first place! Because the residents might object if racing was regularly allowed on more nights a week. You can still apply for planning permission to run one-off events.
SCB
I would imagine if they went to the council for a one off for the World Cup they'd love it. They hardly want this stadium to be built and barely used. They want World Cups, GPs, Euros etc. Manchester is a sporting city and loves having it's name spread far and wide using sport as the vehicle. But also because of the academy which offer local kids the chance to try speedway. Not quite as easy as kicking a football around of course but opportunities will be there.
