Belle Vue Aces Vs Kings Lynn Stars 27.4.2015

But in comparison to the TV viewers the people there are a small %

True, but I guess the majority of both would prefer to see racing as opposed to processions just to get a result. Apart from the winning team who actually benefits from declaring a result as early as heat 10?

Kings Lynn are currently a very very poor away team. The powers are being very patient with Bjerre, at Swindon last week he won his first race by miles and was then truly awful. He wasn't much better at Belle Vue last night.

You can't blame the likes of Ashley Morris, when the so called big hitters are performing so badly.

An enjoyable meeting with the Aces living up to pre season expectations. The track was prepared for the forecasted rain but even so not the gate and go racing some are reporting. There was passing after bend 2 lap 1 in heats 1,2,6,7,10,12 and 14.

Cook was very determined and it was interesting to hear his comments on TV about having changed his engine tuner and support team. Zagar was impressive and Nielsen rode the best I have seen him this year and showed what he can do. North was a good choice of guest.

For Kings Lynn, I wouldn't be too despondent. Iversen and Bjerre are obviously still affected by their injuries and Lambert is a joy to watch, a star of the future. I expected more from Kerr and Schlein but haven't seen enough of Porsing to make a judgement.

I agree it wasn't just gate and go, the Aces riders seemed to adapt to the different track conditions much faster than the Stars.

The Aces were my tip at the start of the season actually, think I said so on the BV page when they announced their top 5. My only concern was believe or not was Scott Nicholls struggling as 2nd ht leader but he has been consistently very good so far. Yes, losing Steady is a huge blow but strong guest bookings like North last night should mean BV can cover Steady.

Not many teams will beat BV at home once the season is up and running properly. Good times to be an Aces fan and after the last few seasons who can begrudge them? Not me for one.

Most of the Stars were like snails out of the starts in the first half of the meeting. The Aces were set up from the get go, it was only after the rain that we held our own.

I agree. It was definitely better than that if not hitting the heights of the Leicester meeting.

Cook was impressive - another lap in heat 14 and he might have had a maximum. Definitely the best I have seen Nielsen ride this season and for a while before that.

Being at the meeting, I didn't hear the comments on Sky but there was no way that this match should have been called off early. There was some rain but hardly anything more than light showers and with one very quick exception I didn't even see the need to take cover.

Those will never work on their own. He needed to add 'I'm a representative of Poole speedway and this is the result we want, so in the interest of Poole Speedway Rider Safety lets pretend it's suddenly much more dangerous than before'

Deja vu.

And Kelvin suggests Cookie is just a gating tart.

I think he only made 2 decent starts last night.

But good passes in the other 3.

Starts have been his weakness this year (and a part of last season) - they are a bit inconsistent.

And Kelvin seemed desperate to show that Cookie was rolling when out against Kerr - pity the replays showed otherwise and Kerr got the warning!!

Interesting to see how Cookie gets on with Ash-Tec.

He certainly has been quick at times this season.

Bit disappointing from a Lynn point of view...only Lambert + Kerr impressing imo. Maybe the Polish trip took its toll on the rest of the top 5?, but most of them are used to riding abroad I'd have thought!

Robert is riding like an extra heat leader at the moment tho - so its a shame our top 3 aren't exactly backing him up  If the TR heat had worked we'd at least come away with a point

Well done to BVue tho - ill be surprised if they're not POff contenders.

Though impressed with Cookie last night. Am disappointed he continues with the role of Double Uppers. Years back, I thought he was the next big star that would make to the top, but while he plies his trade in the Second Division he'll never make that grade.....

Shame really......

Cookie looked good last night at Kirky Lane, but he needs to show that sort of form away from home to start making real progress. At the Norfolk Arena earlier this season he was pants, not the rider you'd want in the first round of the World Team Cup imo.

There would be nothing wrong with Cook doubling up if he prioritised his EL matches. Missing testing meetings for Belle Vue so that he can breeze to effortless maximums for Edinburgh is daft and does nothing for his development.

He said last night that he has made a lot of changes during the winter, new engine tuner, different frames and little things as well hence the inconsistency at the moment in both leagues. But when he has got it right he has been flying.

Hopefully last night was a turning point and he will kick on from it.
