Gavan
It astounds me that some people just can't accept the possibility that Tai never intended to ride in the British Final. Lol really is that a fact is it?? No its your opinion. The facts: Tai declined to compete in the semi finals due to the dates they were arranged for clashing with a gp weekend Upon withdrawing he also announced that he wouldnt accept a wildcard as he felt it wasnt fair on the riders who had done the semi finals. He was NEVER offered a wildcard to ride in the British Final. Your OPINION is that he never intended to ride in the first place. Please back that up with some sort of statement from Tai then please otherwise you are simply putting words in his mouth to try and back your claim. Then again you maybe right, Tai might have woke up one morning in say February and just decided to miss the British Final because he felt like it. Funny how nothing was said until the dates for the semis became common knowledge!
nw42
It doesn't bother me that he wasn't riding in the British Final because, at the moment, the British Final has been reduced to an almost nothing fixture. Ok so you could say he hasn't helped this by not appearing but I think it's down to British Speedway to get it's own house in order before you can expect a World Champion to put extra strain on himself, his schedule and his equipment. Don't get me wrong, I've got some great memories of past Finals, mainly @ Brandon on Wednesday nights, obviously it was a crucial qualifying meeting and had much more meaning but surely if it were marketed well it could get back some of the prestige. As for the topic question, of course he should ride, no doubt whatsoever.

Vincent Blachshadow
Correct as he didnt do the semi finals he said it would be unjust to get a wildcard when the other guys had raced the semi finals. Playing devils advocate he may have said that so it deflected away from the point that he might have turned one down anyway. However the fact remains it was the semi finals that were the issue, something that for some on here is hard to understand as they keep wittering on about him missing the final Do you not think though that had he have taken that wild card because he couldn't make the semis through meeting world championship commitments folk would have accepted it without a murmur. After all, seeding better players/teams straight through to later rounds in sporting competitions is common. As it is many folk see 'it's not fair on the others' as 'I can't be bothered'. Terry
what gavan has said is the truth.. If he rides in next years British Final, with no semi-final clashes I'll believe it.

After all, seeding better players/teams straight through to later rounds in sporting competitions is common. As it is many folk see 'it's not fair on the others' as 'I can't be bothered'. and in my previous post i alluded to as much. The thing is he stated quite clearly that he didnt want a wildcard and he clearly stated his reasons. He might not have been bothered after the farcical dates of the semis so instead of saying that he came out with the wildcard statement. The fcat is we will never know that answer. But for some to say the facts were that he couldnt be bothered is absolute tosh and calling Tai a liar basically
sommelier
Going back to the WTC squad i would pick Cook but no one has really mentioned about his form generally. It has not been great a bit worrying really even though i rate Craig Tai/Lambert for me are the only certainties. The other places you could make a case for the other odvious choices, myself i would now go Tai,Robert,Chris,Craig/Josh.Will get shot down in flames, but Paul Starke should be given some thought, on fire at mo!!! Funny how nothing was said until the dates for the semis became common knowledge! As Ive said many times before, you do not know Tai Woffinden so you do not know what he is thinking or why he does what he does. Your opinion on here is pure speculation, the same as everyone else's on here, so don't think you are speaking the gospel truth because you are just one opinion..Why is your opinion so greater than others that when anyone who doesn't agree with you is targeted with the sharp end of your tongue.. You may think you are the authority on everything but your just one opinion of many, definitely not the authority .

A fact is something that happened. Just some little facts for you. The British Semi Finals were around a GP round. After hearing these dates Tai Woffinden pulled out of the semi finals after announcing publicly they didnt fit i. Tai Woffinden announced publicly that if offered he would turn down any wildcard. Tai Woffinden announced publicly that he felt wrong to take the place of someone who had ridden at the semi finals. Fourentee
We could actually put the whole issue on hold for another year as I already know how it will unfold. In scenario A, if Woffinden doesn't ride in the 2017 British semi-final/final, robert72 will declare he has again turned his back on British speedway, is unpopular with the fans (the cheers of 30,000-plus at Cardiff notwithstanding) and resume his unavailing quest to have Great Britain's best rider -- possibly Britain's best ever rider -- removed from the national team. In scenario B, if Woffinden does ride, robert72 will say he has learned his lesson but only done so in response to the overwhelming outpouring of demand from alienated supporters. He will also say this is a lesson that should have been learned the previous year. If he doesn't ride in the Ben fund, robert72 will demand a major fundraising effort for it from the fabulously wealthy Woffinden. If he does ride in the Ben fund, robert72 will demand a major fundraising effort for it from the fabulously wealthy Woffinden. I think that about covers it.

Fourentee
We can all stay in and live in a fantasy world like youIn my fantasy world, double global champion Tai Woffinden is Britain's best rider and an automatic choice for the Great Britain team. I have a sneaking suspicion my fantasy will come true. Yours is that he will be dropped for the Speedway World Cup. Let's see how that one pans out.
