Should Tai Woffinden Ride For Team Gb ?

Recommended Posts

Dear oh dear its like talking to a couple of school kids who dont seem to understand what people post!

Hate is a very strong word, to hate someone is a harsh opinion

To say 'Tai haters' is a description to group together a group of people who dislike the guy and his actions.

I like the way you try and be pedantic to try and win an argument that only a few are trying to win.

Ok you dont 'hate' Tai, what i will try and do next time is call you a 'Tai disliker' would that suit you better?

I don't think that is an issue Phil it's the fact he is not riding in the British final and refuses to sing the British anthem but sings the Australian one.

Tai is like marmite to British Fans but he also hasn't done himself any favours by snubbing the British final.

Gavan thinks everyone agrees with him which is clearly not the case, maybe he should do a survey around the uk and he would find out a lot of people can't stand tai now, SS was spot on when he said tai is the most unpopular British world champion.

I disagree as whoever wins this year will get IF tai was riding you probably wouldn't be British champion and also any rider in the British final who is happy tai isn't riding doesn't have ambition as you have to beat the best to be the best.

I think bomber would be a good captain now, he has changed since his early days plus tai is to far up his own rear end to be a good captain. I would love to see a manager change back to middlo too.

just a quick sample of your love and affection for Tai

So stop giving it the big one and asking for proof that you dont like Tai.

Im still waiting for proof by the way that the riders in the British Final all get paid differently as well please.

Does anyone "hate" Tai? Then they need help.

Personally, I am frustrated with him for failing to support British Speedway in any shape or form. Winning a World Title is not supporting British Speedway. Its personal glory.

If he rode in the UK, as World Champion, he would get my 100% support. And 99% on this forum would be the same.

Clearly he doesn't care about this point of view. He is clearly in it 100% for himself and not British fans, which is a shame.

If he wins this year, which he has a good chance of doing, I will say well done to him, but it won't be celebrated as a great day for British Speedway as it would have done nothing for the sport in this country, which is far more important than a rider who doesn't support us when he is needed.

It's a bit more accurate so I'll take that.

I don't dislike Woffinden, I don't know him so how can I either like or dislike him?

I don't approve of some of his actions. I don't like the way he dresses (it's an age thing) and I particularly dislike the fact that he cannot give an interview without swearing (very unprofessional he should learn from Hancock). To me he comes across as an arrogant, self centred little git, and I know you need arrogance (or confidence) to become a champion, he's never struck me as a team player/rider and team riding is to me one of the most important parts of speedway but that's simply my opinion. You don't like my opinion fine, I don't particularly like yours but I do respect it and your right to hold it. All I ask is you do the same and respect the opinion of others.

FWIW I can recall plenty of team riding examples at Wolves, including one (failed) attempt to nurture Joe Haines round against Chris Harris (if memory serves). It was put to him afterwards that he could have cleared off and left Haines to his fate and he replied: "But I'm the captain."

You obviously have seen him ride much more than me. I don't doubt he can and has team ridden in the past but I can only go on what I have seen and comments he has made (mainly in the last 2seasons).

You've clearly never watched Woffinden ride much then as he is a brilliant team rider and has been doing it from a very young age.

I refer you to my reply directly above yours.

I doubt I'll get the opportunity to wonder at this talent of his much in the future either as he has turned his back on team racing in this country.

Sure, no problem. In his Wolves days some of his team riding can be quite below the radar in the way he controlled the first/second bend to usher a teammate through or block a rival's run.

Well if you haven't noticed it in almost ten years of racing then it's hardly likely you would have.

His team riding has been on display countless times in tv meetings and has been discussed on this forum as far back as his Rye House days.

Just for info, Star Lady, I'm not playing 'good cop, bad cop' here with BWitcher!

No worries, Didn't cross my mind.

I can only comment on what I've seen, and I think quite a few Lynn fans would agree in his early years Woffinden didn't find the Lynn track easy so most of my views of him were coloured by that. I cannot recall seeing him live at Wolves, it's not the easiest of tracks for my family to visit and I had no reason to travel to other tracks to see him.

What's Woffy gonna do now?? Now Poland are using 3 race nights, Sweden use 2, So that's 5 out of 7 before you add in Denmark and UK...

Perhaps UK, Sweden and Denmark would be better for a "less" busy schedule, if money is not the motivational factor??

Why are people banging on about his schedule???

Of course money and the glory of being World Champion is his motivation why dont people get that??

He missed the British Semi Finals because of their proximity to the GP'S

He isnt seeded so therefore misses the final.

He wants to be World Champion and the best riders ride in Poland and he is contracted there so he wont miss that. He has no need to race in the UK against premier league riders.

Really?

Show me the weeks Woffinden will be riding three times in Poland and twice in Sweden.

I think he thinks that Tai will be racing 5 nights a week lol

He only rides for one team in each league therefore 2 nights and maybe the odd time 3 nights, hardly over the top

I've been on holiday for the last 10 days and I cannot believe the same old crock of crap is still being 'debated' on this thread!!

Some of you need to get a life and just accept Tai is not riding in the UK this year, is a BRIT and is well on his way to his third World Championship :t:
