Should Tai Woffinden Ride For Team Gb ?

Recommended Posts

And the best way to "gain British sponsors to back speedway in this country" is to remove the country's best rider from the country's team riding the World Cup final in this country?

Simply Yes because as the current national champion and world champion he owes it to British speedway and the fans to compete to be British champion and he didn't want it, so why should he be allowed to just pick when he wants to ride and British speedway bow down to him .

Dropping tai would be good for British speedway

You somehow seem to think that not selecting Tai for the World Cup is some kind of punishment!

It is,if he is passionate about representing his country, which ironically is what Robert claims he is not.

Seems Robert is unaware of the paradox between what he states about tai and his proposed "punishment."

Passionate I don't think he is now but he is a monster brand agent who would like to be seen in an international meeting for his sponsors and the World Cup helps promote his sponsors.

His only concern is his own personal glory not Britain

Sorry I just cannot see how dropping Tai gains greater credibility for British Speedway. All it would is emphasize is that many top riders don't want to ride in the UK.

Also Tai was riding - and riding well long before he was a Monster sponsored rider.

Anyway we'll agree to disagree mate.

I see Robert is still banging on with his pathetic crusade???

I think , and im sure Wolves fans will agree, that Tai should do the UK , and basically do what Holder is doing and not try and let the fans down??

But what is the upside to not having him in the team? We are underdogs anyway, without him we have, in Kenny Carter's words, noooo chance.

Wouldn't help get the punters in. A big crowd will be good for Belle Vue and British speedway.

But it's all about doing your best, that's what our reps would do. I don't care either if the meeting is a success, unless BV are getting paid to host it, it's a BSI promoted meeting, I want them out of the sport

You start with saying I am banging on with a pathetic crusade then you are agreeing with me and adding that wolves fans would agree too, I am hurting with laughing.

Classic post :) attack the poster but agree with what is said hehe

Yeah because it's awful seeing the sport staged in front of 50,000 crowds in places like Warsaw.

Whatever you think of Woffy withdrawing his service from this years British championship, you cannot impose a penalty without first warning that penalties are in place and will be enacted.

And I know that this year he announced he wasnt going to do the championship at the very start of the season, BUT it doesnt help any rider, from any country, who has a tight schedule riding abroad, for the ruling powers to select qualifying rounds that essentially clash with a gp. Only an idiot would want to ride a semi final uk championship round the night before a world gp in a country some distance away and miss practice in the process.

Not riding in the British Final had more to do with the semis being Friday and Sunday of a Grand Prix weekend.

The BSPA could have seeded him through if they had wanted .

The World Cup is about the best team available and that includes Tai in the team.

I was disappointed that he left the Elite league but his logic was fine... he needed less meetings in the year

Good luck to him in the SGP and hopefuuly the World Cup.

Personally I would have seeded him through to the British Final so as not to deprive Britain of seeing him in his home country ans secondly it would have boosted attendance at the British Final.

wow your even thicker than i thought if you cant even understand my post.

Holder rides in the uk and grand prix and is clearly not trying over here.

My point was is that you say Tai should do the UK. Do you think Wolves fans want him here not trying like he did couple of years back and Holder is doing now?

Try reading my original post and then maybe just maybe you might understand what i meant.

Tai dictates to British speedway when he wants to ride, no rider should be allowed to disrespect the British final & the British fans .

Would the British final be more attractive to the media and the fans with tai racing in it yes or no ? If yes then he should be left out of team gb and that would give the sport as much good publicity leaving the British world champion out as it would with tai chasing the British title as world champion.

I agree that tai & bomber should of been seeded but tai didn't want to race in the British final as he has already won it 3 times that is my issue, what about the British fans & British speedway that suffers because he didn't want to try for a 4th title, that's why they need to get tough on tai

Shame it wasn't for the Ben Fund in march.

That's because of his contractual obligations with Betard Sparta Wroclaw ;) If he is told by his employers in Silesia to go to a shopping mall in Wroclaw(rather than riding a speedway bike in the UK) to sign autographs, then that's what he'd have to do.FACT!!

I would be surprised if any sportsman's first thought is 'do it for my country' rather than 'do it for myself'

Surely these brave boys only do it for our entertainment?

So he will honor a polish contract but he won't honor the British title, the country that issues his license to race for Wroclaw.

He is badly advised simple as that

He wouldn't ride if seeded.

If you read his statement he talks about the British final in a past tense . Tai has no more need to win or appear in any British final in the future

you are an absolute pillock. Thought Starman was the forums biggest t0sser but you are overtaking him. Badly advised you moron!!! So badly advised that he has won 2 World titles and is nicely placed to push on for a third. I guess Tai should ride over here in as many meetings as possible and sacrifice the ultimate goal?? Chris Harris backs Tai's decision not to do the British Final when it is placed in such a stupid place in the scheduale. Riders have turned their nose up to their country in the past. Wigg and Cox and Smith and more recently Rico and Nicholls. Yet you fail to mention them at any point. Your a pathetic moron
