Should Tai Woffinden Ride For Team Gb ?

Recommended Posts

That's simply because, despite what the 'good old days crowd' keep trying to tell us, the overall quality of rider is much higher now, with much smaller gaps between the teams from top to bottom.

The 'good old days crowd' will tell us about the unbeatable heat leaders teams used to have with their 10-11pt averages in one post... then in the next tell us how great the second strings and reserves were and how often they beat the heat leaders...

As I've mentioned on another thread, there is an argument for returning to a format where the top riders meet less often than they do now, this would give them higher averages and create a perception of them being stronger. Even include bonus pts in their averages again. It's all psychological, they are the same riders but if they have a 10pt average rather than an 8, it makes them appear all that much more enticing to go and watch and be excited about them visiting.. and of course them getting beat.

Not directly relating to this post, but it would make heat leaders and second strings easily separated out for team building purposes, would certainly make team building fairer..

heat leaders 9 to 12 pts

second strings 8.99 pts down

Reserves currently not chosen on EL averages..

Except if there weren't 24 riders on +8.99 averages!

Tai should be in WC team but I do agree with Robert72 in that i see no valid reason why he couldn't or more importantly wouldn't want to ride in the national championship. Bikes/engines can be moved around Europe quite easily and nowhere is more than a few hours away by air. Given it's at the new National stadium i think it is a poor unpatriotic and selfish decision to not support the British Final.

Nobody should be made to sing the Queen's anthem. When we actually create a national anthem then come back to me

You should be made to sing it if your representing your country, I think the FA have got it right

I think tai lives about 50 miles from the national stadium

You're wrong Robert72, give us an anthem about our wonderful country and we will all sing, I hate our current national anthem! The Queen should get it changed before her reign ends imo .....

It may not be the best but it's our national anthem and we are stuck with it for now so it should be respected when representing Britain.

As a country we have a tradition of free speech or even free silence.No-one should be forced to sing a bloody anthem. It just isn't important

Guys, ignore the troll.

It has nothing to do with Tai not singing the national anthem, or Tai not riding in the Ben Fund.

Robert72 doesn't post over and over about riders who refuse to even race for their country... Scott Nicholls... or riders that have NEVER rode in the Ben Fund... Scott Nicholls.

He obviously has a personal dislike and petty jealousy.

I agree with your second sentence, anthem and BF nkot the issue for me. Your comparison is wrong though in my view unfortunately, Nicholls' dispute with BSPA was well documented. Tai is world champion and british champion and he has elected not to support our national championshop for purely personal and in my view selfish reasons. Edited by SPEEDY69

Yeah respected but with the choice of singing it .....

But He chose to sing the Australian anthem with passion but Not the British anthem ?

Snubs the British Final and people still make excuses for him on here.

As I said above he sung the Australian one.

I don't think you understand the concept of 'selfishness'.

The British Final is an INDIVIDUAL event. It is for personal gain, not the gain of GB. Nicholls is quite happy to ride in that as he wants the personal glory. Woffinden has won it 3 times and is happy to let someone else taste the glory.

Riding for your country is for the benefit of your country. Woffinden does that, Nicholls doesn't.

The selfish rider is Nicholls.

It's clear you're trying the distraction technique but it completely misses the point of the thread. Woffinden has no issue with BSPA, wants to help train others but won't support the British Final, live on TV at the new stadium because he really can't be bothered - there is no other legitimate excuse. If it's because of poland or gps then wholly selfish. It devalues the tournament. Edited by SPEEDY69
