Should Tai Woffinden Ride For Team Gb ?

Recommended Posts

Dazzafl use to work in the pits in Plymouth awhile back, I seem to remember him, however not sure he understands what I am saying as he seems blinkered when it comes to tai.

We don't know if he knows tai aswel as he makes out.

I am sure there will be a number of people making a point to tai at both venues and would I say something to tai of course I would do as I think him snubbing the British final is a disgrace.

I dont know you sorry..

and if you remembered me you would know i was far more than the pit marshall at the club..

I was Mike Bowdens Son in Law and had a major part in the clubs day to day running until things come to a head in my marriage.

and you are now questioning how well i know Tai.. OK

sorry guys i wasnt going to reply but felt the need to defend myself.. I have not really questioned you about who you know and i would have thought Tai's own facebook page of him in a suit stating my name and a bet we had about wearing it.. would have surficed your curiosity but oh well..

anyway i wont be conversing with you about the issue in this forum but felt compelled to defened myself with your claims about me and my friendship with Tai..

just in case you missed it.. https://www.facebook.com/TWoffinden108/photos/a.794553520569395.1073741828.702502843107797/1219223038102439/?type=3&theater

and my name is Darren Fletcher i wont hide my name as no need

There you go again robert72, maybe you'll take note this time! Dazzafl has far more credibility than yourself and he has proved it yet again.

So are you going to Cardiff or Belle Vue? When you do I assume you'll be telling Tai to his face that;

1) he owes British speedway,

2) he doesn't care about British speedway,

3) he disappointed the whole UK speedway scene for not riding I the British Final,

4) he shouldn't ride for Team GB and

5) you don't believe he has any intention of running a riding school

We'll know if you do as I'm sure Dazzafl will have great joy in letting us all know what Tai's response to you was and I for one can't wait!

unfortunatley i cannot make the GP this weekend as my other job is a Club DJ and on saturday i will be in Ibiza working.. but i will be at the SWC at the end of the month.. and Robert72 you can come introduce yourself to me and we can both go and see Tai and i will video the interview you give him..

But seriously i have spoken with him and told him to expect some old guy who used to ride a bike once upon a time to come up and bring these issues up and to be ready to not laugh to hard in his face..

I can tell you we had a great laugh at it.. he is as devoted to riding for the GB team as he is winning another world title and riding as hard as he can to help lift the World Cup trophy as it is another goal of his.. as its one he hasnt had YET..

but Robert72 you will still question this as it is your nature and because you cannot see the wood from the trees on this issue i now give up.. please PM me with your were abouts on July 30th and i will organise meeting you and discuss this all face to face..

It really sums it up if he laughed that fans are upset about him missing the British final.

I don't buy your facts about his true love of GB as he made that clear by missing the British Final.

Maybe you should ask him why he is Not bothered about British riders in wheelchairs and the Ben fund ?

Why has he got an Aussie flag and Not a British flag tattoo ?

Tai is solely out for himself not for the love of Britain or the fans.

He will never be as popular as mark loram however many titles he wins.

1) we laughed because what you are saying is utter rubbish and you will be THE ONLY person who will ever say that to him becasue everyone else that is near him will be star struck.. as i still am when i am around him i DJ and get attention but he attention is unreal.. look at the world pairs.. he was there not riding in the crowd signing autographs.. if people hated him would they do that..

2) he has a dual nationality if i had spent a huge proportion of my life in another country i would love it also if i was brought up in another country... i think the fact he is riding as a Brit shows he is devoted.. he could have chosen Australia and he would of had a GP slot as it has proven he has what it takes to be world champ.. and his choice to ride for GB wasnt because he would get a wild card.. the choice was made well before that.. i spoke to him first in 2006 when i gave the whole woffinden family a guided tour of Plymouth and had them at my house although he was a visiting rider.. he told me then i will be a world champ one day and bring it to the UK that was 10 years ago..

3) its a business to him and with any business you want it to be the best.. he doesnt do it just for the love although it helps and he has many many fans.. his merchadise sells out over and over he has kids painting pictures of him on walls he is an icon to younger riders in this sport.. enough said on that i think..

4) he doesnt want to emulate anyone Tai is Tai.. he is the world champion TWICE.. think that out passes mark loram.. although Gavan will be happy you mentioned him..

i look forward to meeting you on the 30th and having the discussion with Tai.. until then i wont reply to you any further.. as its a waste of time as you just dont listen...

Pardon me for interupting but there is a world of difference between achievements and being liked and respected.

I have never ever met anyone in the speedway world that doesn't like and have respect for Mark Loram and I've been around speedway for longer than you  . There are quite a few on this forum if you choose to read what they post and I've met quite a few that do not have the same level of liking for Tai Woffinden. So no in my considered opinion he will never out pass Mark Loram, what you choose to think is of course up to you.

and how can you say you have been around speedway longer than me.. maybe you have doesnt mean anything really..

and his point was and i quote "He will never be as popular as mark loram however many titles he wins."

my retort back to that is Tai has a global appeal and has more fans globally i think i can say that pretty easily.. partially because they are stars of different times.. i dont know.. i wouldnt say any rider is more popular than another i like all the riders..

see now i have been dragged back in again.. not doing it again.. i will defend Tai until the cows come home.. he is our world champ we need to back him

I challenge you to name them...

I'm not going to trawl thro this thread and I'm not sure it's up to me to voice the opinion of others but obviously myself and Robert 72. I've also seen posts from Trees, Jaques, Orion amongst others that are less than glowing in support of Tai Woffinden. It just seems they are invisible to some people who support him.

I have no objection to you defending him till the cows come home, I would do the same for anyone I liked and respected as much as you do. All I ask is that you and others acknowledge that there are people who have other opinions.

BTW as my first attendance at speedway was in 1965, it was a no brainer to say I've been around longer than you. It was an attempt to lighten the mood and no way intended as a slur/ insult etc.

As I said to Gavan yesterday, you will not change my mind. I respect your opinion all I ask is you respect mine. Let's agree to disagree.

of course i apreciate people have differing opinions to mine and a lot of other people so you say 5 people.. thats not that many really.. but hey again i accept your opinions you articulate yourself well but you havent mentioned why ? but i now dont expect you too..

1965 i was a mere movement in my dad's... well i wont continue haha

and perfect i agree to disagree but when opionions are made on non fact and a general guess work i will base it with fact and that is all i have done..

1) what I was saying about him being a disgrace for missing the British final is also the view of many British fans,so he is laughing at them too.

2) it was clear at the time why he chose the British path to further his career and look now he can't be bothered with British speedway or the British final plus the British Ben Fund, that's how much he loves Britain.

3) it is not a love of the sport but a business that maybe where he is going wrong.also how many kids have painted tai on their walls ? One

Tai is an icon in a very small sport, but he is not a household name like Jessica Ennis-Hill, Paula Radcliffe,Andy Murray,Carl Froch,Tom Daley, to name a few from smaller sports.

4) Mark may of only Won one world title but the competition was tougher in 2000 when he won it than it was last year, the fact will always be that Mark loram will always be the most popular British world champion.

Did you ask tai his thoughts on why he snubbed the Ben fund and if so did he laugh at that aswel as this is clearly Not important to him when in fact he is in prime spot as a British world champion to make a huge impact to a very worthwhile British speedway charity.

All you keep doing is quoting your OWN opinion and then add 'this is the view of many British fans' (or words to that effect).

Let me say it again...30,000+ fans on Saturday night will bring the roof off of the Principality Stadium cheering for Tai. That alone shoots you down so for the love of God stop playing the same record.

YOU and a handful (yes that is all) of others dislike Tai. That's fair enough, but stop ramming it down our throats.

Oh and the SGP in 2000 was a very different animal to as it is now in 2016 so comparing them is rather silly, but you already know that being the speedway buff you claim to be.

As for your last statement 4)...another personal OPINION based on nothing!

As I said I'm not going to trawl the thread. The five I mentioned posted in the last couple of days, there may be more, I'm sure there are but my memory is not what it was so anything before then has disappeared into the haze of 1300+ posts.

I would insert a smilie here but my mobile device doesn't like them!

Mark Loram was and will always be a popular world champion and many will agree.

You keep saying I and others dislike tai but avoid the reasons why which are very important to many people.

Tai Woffinden is and will always be a popular World Champion and many will agree. What's your point? (I was also a huge fan of Mark so I agree with your statement).

However many of your posted reasons for disliking Tai are just your opinion based upon no supporting evidence. Dazzafl has proved you wrong a number of times on some of your points, yet you still carry on. Why??

And you still haven't stated whether you have the nuts to face Tai and where you will be doing so....so as I have said previously, you aint gonna are you?
