Should Tai Woffinden Ride For Team Gb ?

Recommended Posts

Come on now yes or no should Tai be picked for the world cup?

No as what example does tai set to young kids and if lambert wins the world u21 will he then decide he is too good to ride in the uk and the British final next year but still expect a team gb place.

However I can't see tai being dropped and that questions the way British speedway is run.

I've been on holiday for the last 10 days and I cannot believe the same old crock of crap is still being 'debated' on this thread!!

Some of you need to get a life and just accept Tai is not riding in the UK this year, is a BRIT and is well on his way to his third World Championship :t:

But not riding in the British Final tonight, shame !

If he had been then he would've been 4 time British Champion, only (a surprising) King and (the expected) Cook would've given him a run for his money as he's so far ahead of the lot of 'em.

If GB just wants to be in the meeting and come last then there is no need for him to be in the team, if we want any chance of a podium of course he needs to be in and lead the team.

Well, maybe, maybe not. The final race in the British championships has been littered with crashes and reruns, some to Tai's benefit and others not. I wouldn't have regarded it as a foregone conclusion.

I suspect you haven't watched woffy ride much Bewicher considering you are in Portugal kid

Who cares how much you seen someone ride???

Tai moved to Australia by his parents at the age of 4 and moved back at 15. These were not his choices.

He grew up in Australia so will hev made many friends there and of course has an affinity with the place.

He is British, his family are British.

you dont have to like him as a person but only an uneducated imbecile doesnt see him as British

He probably was too tired to think about the fact that had he bothered to race in it and win it for the fourth time in a row he would equal the record held by briggo.

Good to see Pearson clear up Woffinden's non appearance at Belle Vue in the local rag tonight, its now that he did not have a bike in Britain .. Wish Steve Brandon had continued his line of questioning at the GP Saturday so we could have heard it from the horses mouth the reason why he didn't appear on Monday

Tai will have a set up in sweden touring and one in poland touring and hid GP set up also touring..

His GP set up wouldn't be able to have got from Denmark to Manchester in time for Monday and neither would of any of his other set ups to be able to continue his contractual league racing on the Tuesday..

if someone could tell me how he could of got his bikes over here in that very short space of time without costing huge amounts.. please chirp up.. I think he reasons of saying I have won it three times on the bounce.. I want to give one of the younger guys a chance to win it and get their GP spot ..

I don't think for one second Danny King thought this is a hollow victory because tai wasn't here.. in fact I think he was relieved.. that track would have suited Tai and his bikes would have out done any riders bikes there for speed.. so yes he deserves the team spot and I think you should give the guy a break

All the top riders who ride in Poland and Sweden(excluding Swedes)do not have kit in Sweden-you only have to watch the Swedish league to see that all the equipment/mechanics is the Polish based.

you know that for sure.. if that's the case its even worse.. as he has polish duties and that's even further to carry the bikes for this meeting

The Australian flag on his back doesn't suggest that he sees himself as British.

Was he in the UK on Monday? If so then he should have been at Belle Vue to observe/help/assist and pass on knowledge with Rosco.

It seems to me that whilst Rob and Sue were true Brits, and made great sacrifices for Tai's career, they returned to the UK because this was the best place for a "young aussie" to learn his craft, in a Holder, Ward etc kind of way. Fair play, plenty do that.

The next thing was the international stage, and with Crump, Adams (I think) and the emerging talent around the best way that "young Tai" would get noticed was by playing the "Brit" card. Let's face it, his first season in the GP was a disaster, and he was only nominated because he was British.

He is now undoubtedly the best rider in the world - and that is purely down to him. Hats off for that. I can't help but thinking though that he now considers his "British" background to be a handicap. I think (I don't know) that given the choice he would declare himself Australian. He spends half of his life there, and has said previously he will retire there. His choice - good luck to him. I wish I could retire to Australia.

Wearing an England shirt for his TV interviews though doesn't hide the fact for me - Tai doesn't consider himself to be English/British. I'm very glad that he races for us though, and I think that should long continue.

He spent a lot of his life in Australia it would be hard to ditch that I know I would find it hard

If he was I am sure he would of been there he isn't that sort of bloke to not turn up with his reasons being clear from my point of view

maybe right maybe wrong but unless you have evidence that was the only reason he was nominated that's a tough call.

I agree Tai rides for us if all he wanted was glory he would have chosen the Ozzies.. but no he has stuck by us and he has given a lot to us in this sport
