RPNY
I still don't see what Tai has done wrong other than have an Aussie accent. Has ridden his Nuts off every time he has represented GB. He did a ridiculous amount to promotion for the Sport in the UK when he won his first World Championship and he got naff all for it. How anyone here can blame him for not wanting to participate in what is quite literally a third rate league is beyond me. Are people here going to say they wouldnt leave the country for a better job through loyalty?
Shale Searcher
Tai's attitude to the UK stinks, if he doesn't want to do league speedway, British Championship, then he shouldn't be picked for the national team, in my opinion.. How do you explain his appearance in the SWC, especially if he "WINS" it for Team GB, to any potential new sponsors, dignitaries, at the SWC... Who's this chap then, he's brilliant, and British, who does he ride for here? Errrr, well he doesn't, he rides everywhere in Europe, but not here in his Country.. Why? Errrrrrrrr, he says that.................. (Please add as appropriate) Oh, OK, I won't be adding any financial backing to him, or his local team, as it will not be of any benefit to my business... RPNY
So when Footballers leave and play abroad they shouldnt be picked for the National squad? We also tried that at the last Rugby World Cup. That worked out well didnt it...

ColinMills
the reason hes not riding in the brit final is obviously cos its not financial enough for him..the travel argument doesn't stand up. its part of speedway

Daniel Smith
Basically, the anti Woffy clown thinks it's best TeamGB leaves out Woffy and finish 4th in the World Cup on home soil for the good of British Speedway I can't breath

New Science
I can't believe we are back on the tail missing British final again. If it has been announced he would be seeded direct I could sympathise. But with the scheduling of the semis as they were, it made zero sense for him to ride in them. Surely it is better to have him focus on becoming a British world champ, than have him riding in a domestic semi final in front of a couple of thousand fans? If Woffinden was seeded straight to the final he would still not ride. He has won it 3 times and there is nothing to gain from winning it again, so it is scrubbed from his calender. Don't expect Tai to appear in another British final.

That worked out well didnt it... I don't give a toss what they do in football or rugby tbh, it's speedway I care about ..... let the boys who race here race for our team, they will do their best. It's a bloody BSI comp anyway! Who gains, they do, hope they paid a nice big slice for the pleasure of using BV for their competition? BSPA take note drop the world champion from our national team and all your worries will be over Is this competition anything to do with the BSPA? Surely the boys are representing the ACU?

We are underdogs anyway, without him we have, in Kenny Carter's words, noooo chance. Wouldn't help get the punters in. A big crowd will be good for Belle Vue and British speedway. New Science
I don't think you understand the concept of 'selfishness'. The British Final is an INDIVIDUAL event. It is for personal gain, not the gain of GB. Nicholls is quite happy to ride in that as he wants the personal glory. Woffinden has won it 3 times and is happy to let someone else taste the glory. Riding for your country is for the benefit of your country. Woffinden does that, Nicholls doesn't. The selfish rider is Nicholls. [/quote Correct ! Maybe he will move over and 'let someone else take the glory' as Bwitcher puts it, when he has 3 World titles

Take the World Cup away from tai after his snub of the National title would show future stars nobody is bigger than British speedway. Is team GB a one rider team ? No Do you think the media will be interested in the British final ? No but they may write a story saying the British world champion who Doesn't ride in Britain decided he was too tired to defend his British title even though he is based about only 50 miles from the national stadium. British Speedway would get more credibility in the media and with fans if they told tai he is dropped from team GB for refusing to defend the National title. robert72
You somehow seem to think that not selecting Tai for the World Cup is some kind of punishment! It puts a message out to the up and coming stars aswell as a good PR message that if you don't compete for the British title you won't be selected for team GB even if you are the world champion. British speedway has become a joke, it needs to be seen to be in charge and moving in the right direction to gain respect and gain British sponsors to back speedway in this country, dropping the world champion who snubs the British final is the right move and would gain huge respect and a lot of much needed media coverage. And the best way to "gain British sponsors to back speedway in this country" is to remove the country's best rider from the country's team riding the World Cup final in this country?
