Should Tai Woffinden Ride For Team Gb ?

Recommended Posts

Spot on & totally correct on your post

How do you know that? He might have put his contract slightly at risk but I bet if he had ridden it would all have blown over fairly quickly and the sponsors that he was due to meet, would surely understand and appreciate an international call-up and their logo's being displayed on TV. Bomber is due to ride for Coventry tonight but he still Tweeted Rosco and offered to go if he was stuck (from other sources, it seems Schlein had already been approached).

Good for Chris.

He is that dedicated to the sport of speedway and representing his country at world level, that he has stated that he will not race in the pairs meeting, because he has practice in Poland and also a meeting with the mayor.

Some dedication but to which country.

He's not riding in a challenge meeting?

Whoopy doo!

It isn't an 'international call-up'.

Yeah, good for Chris offering to let down his club to race in a meaningless challenge match abroad!

Chris knew he could make such an offer, making himself look good, as the BSPA would never allow it.

I am sure he would only have gone if M Horton agreed to it.

Isn't it a pity that this matter has had to be dicussed-it is an unofficial meeting at any case and Woffinden's press agent or whatever would have been well advised not to have sent a long apologetic press release on behalf of the rider. I don't think the average supporter could care less if Tai Woffinden rode in the meting or not. It has fired up a lot of people and that is a pity.

The reason tai released the press release was because he was getting hammered via social media for not riding?

The BSPA stopped Scott Nicholls going ...........

Which is bizarre when there was no clash of meetings for him. Is this part of the reason Rosco was so pissed off?

It seems to me that the Poles have more power in our sport than all the ruling bodies put togethet. What the Polish clubs say to the riders is you will do as told. Full stop, how many times now have we seen them stop Polish riders from coming over here, they have far to much control over the sport.

He wouldn't have been representing his country though. He'd be riding for a nominally named 'GB select' in a glorified open meeting.

The professional leagues paying wages of the riders should be well within their rights to insist their competitions and obligations take priority. FIM Europe are just a pointless non-entity looking to justify their existence but sanctioning all sort of nonsense competitions.

Rosco should leave him out then.

Tai looks after himself and If he really wanted to ride he would of been there.

True though. Its very easy to say you will help out and score browny points when there is no way you will ever be able to.

That is pretty cynical too.

But accurate. There was no way Harris would be released to ride in this. No other country had riders who had fixture clashes.

The USA did.

They only had Hancock to ride due to their other riders racing in the UK, hence HANCOCK withdrawing from the meeting.

There's a clue there. Hancock withdrew.. not the USA, or their team management as they were never spoken too.. the promoters simply dealt with the rider (Greg).

That's not aimed at you of course waiheke, just those who still can't grasp it wasn't an official international meeting.
