Redcar Bears V Peterborough Panthers - Pl 23rd April (7.30pm)

Recommended Posts

Lasse off 1, Richard off 2, Richard gated just ahead, moved to clamp Lasse on first bend, Lasse having non of that - kept going hard into bend and pushed/hit Richard who then went across track and slid (gently) into fence - could possibly have stayed on, but obviously went down to get rerun - To be fair to Lasse he never moved off inside line , but to be fair to Richard - it was a hefty bump - think it came out of Nicki Pedersen 1st bend manoeuvres. All four back - fair decision although have seen inside rider kicked out for similar moves, I think the fact that Richard didn't fall immediately after contact was the key.

Once Richard got sorted he went back to pits, jumped off bike and went to confront Lasse who was off bike just outside pit gate, Mechanics/officials intervened and sent Richard away, Lasse just looked him and walked away - only handbag out was from Richard. BUT in rerun Richard gated and was bike and a half clear going into first bend - would suggest Glasgow TM winds him up more often if he wants to get a class gate out of him!!

Or the more concise Peterborough Telegraph version "...dumped on the deck by Redcar number one Lasse Bjerre" ;)

was a good all round performance from the Panthers last night .. couple of strange ref decisions, but I guess we're used to that now.

biggest disappointment for me was the state of the track .. I really like the shape, but when it's as under prepared as last night it really doesn't do the place justice.

I had the choice of going to Swindon or Redcar last night but chose Redcar as I like the track so much, but those feelings are dropping .....

It wasn't under prepared - that is how it is now prepared week in, week out and why the racing quality has deteriorated badly over the last few years.

I, like many others, had the choice of Redcar or staying at home last night. I chose staying at home and so did quite a few others.

Well I drove from Norfolk to watch a poor team on a dreadful track, Kus must be binned as well as young Morley, simply not up to it. Konopka should be binned , not improved in a year

spot on

think you meant biased not concise - I stand by my version :t:

when Lawson rode for redcar and bjerre for the panthers last year did they have a coming together on track that forced the medical team to rule bjerre out of the meeting ?? or am I wrong :nono:

Thought the track was poor last season too - blue groove appeared early on in most meetings and outside offered very little.

It was early on in season, but towards end it was approaching best it had been for quite a few years, one can only keep fingers crossed it will be a similar pattern this season --BUT the sooner the better!!

Nope, same one's. I believe the track was voted 4th best in the league, (by the refs), last year, but for me, it was still well slick and very dry.

I find what referees think are good tracks and what fans think are good tracks are entirely different.

TWK is right - STMP used to be one of the best in the country. It went disastrously down hill when Havelock took over and although better than it was its still nothing like the first couple of seasons.

No arguments there.

The track changed when the kerbs and drains were put in. If the drains are taking away the natural water (when it rains), That along with a dry spell of weather. Its harder to get moisture back into it (the hanging basket syndrome where water attracts water, but if you let them dry out its hard to get water back into it, it just runs off. Keep them damp and water soaks in better). Just a theory.

Remember a few years ago when new shale was added but we had two or three meetings with everyone stood around waiting when the tractors had to take it all off and it was piled up on the inside of the track, because the riders couldn't ride it. It was bald on the inside on Thursday, but the problem was, the outside wasn't working where the dirt was and the inside to mid-track was the fast line around the blue groove. Speedway has always been about chasing the dirt, but that for some reason isn't working at the moment on the track. I haven't got a clue why.
