Lakeside V Wolves (24/4)

Recommended Posts

Maybe someone decided after last season that having a meeting of 7 v 6 is to much of a joke for the paying public?

Irrelevant.

Birks is in the Lakeside team. If he is refusing to ride he should be banned for withholding his services. Lakeside can then use a guest.

Next time Wolves visit Lakeside, Wolves should simply say Musielak isn't available (no need for a reason) and use a guest in his place.

Edited to add:

After Heat 14, perhaps not... Thorsell not available then!

And further edited to add:

CHEATS DON'T PROSPER!!

Get in there lads... Don't sack PK and expect to get away with it :)

Am I missing something and are you for real?

Birks was dropped for Boxall who subsequently was injured and now you say a sacked rider should be banned for withholding their services!?!? If I was sacked from my job and my replacement was unwell and they asked me to come back and cover until my replacement was better - I would tell them where to go!!

Ruddy 'eck :shock::party:

Tobiasz, I'm warming to this guy. 2 lasts, replaced by a reserve and then pops up with a paid win when it was needed most. Well done son. well done. Fantastyczny. :t:

Beowulf, what's Polish for 'I like this track?' Lubię ten utwór, apparently

A Brimful of PK and he's 45.

Oh jeez..

It's really very simple.

Ashley Birks is in the declared Lakeside team.. if he is telling them 'where to go' then he is withholding his services. As such if Lakeside use a guest for him, he should be banned. It's quite simple.

It's quite simple - he was sacked !!

The problem is Lakeside's not Birks' !!!

I agree the problem is Lakesides. Which is why they shouldn't be using a guest for Birks.

It matters not however on this occasion as Wolves won anyway.

Steve0 has already spelt it out, Ashley Birks was replaced in the Lakeside team by Steve Boxall about a week ago now..

So all is overboard and correct by my understanding :t:

Unexpected and good win for Wolves tonight though...

Birks shouldn't have been reintroduced to the Lakeside 1-7 if he didn't intend to ride, or he should be serving a ban for withholding his services. The situation we have now is unsatisfactory.

Lakeside will struggle at reserve all season long.

Why Adam Ellis wants to ride in the NL is beyond me. Should of done a Garrity and held out for a PL place.

Ellis was excellent at Monmore on Monday, out gated PK twice so is progressing well. Ellis did the right thing at this stage of his career and no doubt a PL team will snap him up quickly. He cannot afford to wait for a PL place to come up. Garrity was always likely to be snapped up sooner than. I agree on paper Lakeside look to have weaker reserves. Birks/Boxall/whoever are meant to be the better reserve anyway and it's hardly been a settled piston yet.

WELL DONE to the mighty Wolves. Must write us off more often!

Steve Boxall was injured before he rode for Lakeside which meant they reverted back to their original.

It's there in black and white on the BSPA site, the latest teams. Ashley Birks is in the Lakeside team. Steve Boxall is not.

Nice comment by PK on his record no. of appearances for the Wolves - said he wasn't particularly bothered, didn't mean that much to him, but he supposed Sam would be crying in his bed right now

Disappointing result tonight, going to be a tough season for us with the reserves even struggling at home. 4pts at Leicester tomorrow hopefully...

Your boys were excellent Steve Brum. PK superb and your reserves won the meeting. Our reserves were awful. Adam Ellis spends more time on the floor at Purfleet which is worrying. Bech isnt cutting the mustard. Changes need to be made I think before our season is over before Wimbledon starts!!

Thanks VV. Had you down as unbeaten at home and potential PO's but Bech a huge disappointment. Doesn't see to be moving forward at all.

Utterly diabolical track. Have to say well done to Wolves because the tr ack was the same for both sides and te am riding between Freddie and PK in heat 15 was comparable to anything the turbo twins produce but Lakeside management need to have an long think about all this.

This seems to happen every year. We get a settled track prep that suits the team and produces decent racing then out of the blue a different track is produced. We have had some reasonable racing this year but tonight wasnt even gate and go it was gate and race over. When staunch long-time fans start complain inthe crowd and on the fans forum, saying they are finished with the sport if this carries on, the promotion need to notice.

There were bad vibes from the start when Jon Cook couldn't be bothered to announce the riders on parade. Someone said he went home and if that's true it just about sums the evening up.

A couple of years ago we had issues it the track being poor and breaking up and Jon Cook said in his programme notes that certain people were being relieved of their duties and he was going to assume responsibility. After that he got a grip and we started getting good tracks again . They have been reasonably good this year until tonight we suddenly get a dustbowl with no grip and no overtaking and holes appearing. It would be excusable if there was some unusual weather condition like a threat of rain or hot day but there were no problems of that nature. There is no excuse. You can't charge people £18 for tracks like that and expect them to keep coming.

Words fail me to describe what a rubbish meeting it was. I can't remember the last time I saw such a poor meeting.

One final point. Poole have had ongoing complaints from fans about poor tracks. Now Lakeside fans are complaining about a poor track. Both tracks have the same track curator. Maybe there should be team changes other than the riders.
