Points Money....

Recommended Posts

I have been out of the loop in Speedway terms for several years, stopping around 1992 then really only then getting back into watching the GP since around 2011, and this year I have not missed an Ipswich home meeting.

Anyway was moving off topic, does anyone know or have a rough idea or would like a realistic stab at saying what the points money is like in the Elite & Premier Leagues for the respective no1's, heat leaders, second strings then reserves?

I am interested to know how it compares to my sport for which I am a promoter of, no real reason other than interest, not planning on making the move into the big black hole of speedway :D

You won't get far on that subject I'm afraid.

I obviously hear what is said "in the stands" but obviously its pure speculation, then I read from other people on this forum about riders getting guaranteed money per meeting regardless of points, just interested to see the difference between the PL & EL

It is rumored that Matej Zagar is on £3000.00 per meeting for Belle Vue irrespective of points scored. A top Elite league rider will probably be on around £200.00 plus a point. A reserve in the Premier League maybe only £30.00 ish per point. For the lower order riders a lot depends on how their average fits into the intended teams 1 - 7. If they in demand then it, naturally, ups the asking price

I believe the EDR guys in the EL are on a set £60 a point, plus whatever sponsorship they can generate.

The suggestion of £200 - £250 per point for EL heat leaders is about right, BUT they often will demand and get extra in the form of big signing on fees, vans, accommodation, mechanics etc.

Interesting, I work in an entirely different sport where I deal with Professional (who are obviously paid) then Amateur who are unpaid but it still costs them money to do what they do, nothing in the same terms it would cost an amateur speedway rider for example as the equipment is a big cost, but its interesting to read all the comments. £3k per meeting is a good deal if you can get it lol
