Sheffield Vs Somerset Pl 23/04/2015

Recommended Posts

Cook did what was asked if him. Garrity pulled in the points which was not bad for his first meeting. Andre pulled it out of the bag in heat 15. But where oh where where Ash and Josh?????

Sorry to say that the team couldn't cover their poor contribution tonight.

Hope this is a blip and they come back fighting on Saturday..........

Mightily disappointed ...

Disappointing.Cookie did all he could,Andre was awesome in heat 15 and did a good job,Ty and Jason gave support,Arthur did his bit but Ash and Josh were awful.Hope it was mechanical and not down to being subdued over steadys crash. It needs sorting at Berwick or the season could start to slip away.Good luck to the lads tomorrow at Berwick, lets get back on track.

Have faith Najjer! Obvously Benji is struggling so if the management can pull an rabbit out the hat there i think the team is PL contenders again for the fourth year in a row. The NZ lad at Eastbourne looks good if he is a 3.00 average?

I always have faith, just didn't expect us, or anyone for that matter to go to Sheffield and win this season so it's a fantastic result. If Benji was a pet you would of had him put down now, and it can't be any fun for him travelling all the way to Somerset every week to be half a lap behind the rest. As I've said before, anyone would do, as they can't be any worse.

The word from BSPA Towers is that he's a 5.

Strange why he's allowed in the NL then?

Thanks to Cookie great job. Jason, Andre and Arthur did ok. Ty, Ashley and Josh seemed under powered and no match for the Somerset riders who thoroughly deserved to win.

This isn't sour grapes (the Rebels won fair and square and hats off to them) but has Leigh Lanham undergone some sort of radical transformation since leaving Sheffield?

Good result for the Rebels last night, certainly thought they were capable of it. Benji is better than what he's showing, spent a lot of money on equipment during the winter, must be a reason for his poor showing.

Like many before him Leigh Lanham now has a home track he enjoys riding - therefore enjoying being a Speedway Racer home & away!!

He joined Somerset.

I could ride Greg Hancock's bike, but it doesnt mean I'm going to be world champion.

My thoughts too. Said it last night, throughout last year he never put in a performance like last nights at Owlerton.

As for Ash Birks I understand he was very upset at Rye House on Saturday, but he has to rise up above that and start performing. Think he's been below par for every meeting at Owlerton up to now!

Bates, well Peter Adams at Wolves says he's suffering some sort of illness! Think he's depressed at his lack of performance in the Under 21s'.

After Leigh's injury at Glasgow he spent allot of money trying to get fit again and also replacing equipment which only got better with 7 meetings to the end of the season. I sponsored Leigh last year and know what he went through, I also sponsor him this year and will do until he packs up riding. Unfortunately for Leigh this year it was Sissis or him. As Sissis is allot younger and also a future asset it was a no brainer. Well done Leigh last night, maybe some will learn from your dedication to good preparation mechanically and fitness they may have beaten you last night.

Good luck at Somerset Leigh your a top bloke👍👊

He's been fantastic for us so far, top scoring three times away from home and good solid home performances to boot. He obviously wasn't first choices for Somerset but he's taking his oppertunity with both hands.

can fully echo that - Leighs injuries last year were far more restricting than most realise.

Also agree that his professionalism is second to none in the PL.

He deserves a great season - good luck fella

You can see that Leigh is happy at Somerset. He has quickly become very popular with the fans and clearly has a good relationship with the management team.

As already stated by others, he is a true professional Not for the first time in his career a 4 hour trip to his home matches is taken in his stride!

I am full of respect for Leigh's ability, character and professionalism. In the final season (2010) prior to Stoke's demise into the NL, Leigh guested for the team on a number of occasions and his whole attitude and approach was exemplary. He really is a boon to any side that he rides for and I am glad to see him doing so well at Somerset this season.

To be fair to Big Leigh his home form although not great, was reasonable, it was the away form that was a big let down, add to that the injuries, meant that he never really got going at Sheffield last season.

These things happen and sometimes things just don't work out for rider and club and I think this was the case for Leigh, and he is now doing the business for Somerset.
