Belle Vue V Coventry Mon 20th April

Recommended Posts

Taken from Belle Vue website:

As they prepare to meet Coventry for the first time this season, sparks of payback are sure to be flying from the Belle Vue side of the pits come Monday night.

The hosts have kept very much in mind the punishment dealt to them by the Buildbase Bees last season, particularly as they were the only club to defeat them on all four occasions they clashed.

But the battle on April 20th guarantees to be just as equally hard-fought, especially as the visitors boast three riders who are more than comfortable around Kirkmanshulme Lane.

Two of them, Hans Andersen and Chris Harris, formerly captained Belle Vue in 2010 and 2011 respectively while at the same time spearheaded the team as club No.1 during their tenure.

But current Rentruck Aces captain Scott Nicholls refuses to single out any members of his former club as being more dangerous than others.

He said: "It was a frustrating start for us, missing out on those points by such a slim margin, but it's still early days in the season and every match is a new day. We pulled off a great victory against Leicester on Monday and all of the boys chipped in and did their job, and showed the kind of class they're capable of producing. The enthusiasm of the fans was brilliant and naturally they want to see more of the same. So it's important we keep that momentum going against Coventry next week.

"They're a solid, well-balanced team and they've really given us something to think about after their win at Poole on Wednesday. Of course Chris and Hans know Belle Vue very well, and Jason Garrity is their star reserve who caused us quite a few headaches last year.

"But let's be honest, you have to expect great riders like them to perform well at a track they're very familiar with. I don't see any of them as a bigger threat than their team mates, just as I don't see Coventry as any more of a threat to us than the other Elite League clubs. On paper we can easily match them and I see no reason why that shouldn't also be the case in practice.

"We just need to focus on our job, maintain that solidarity within the team and do whatever is necessary to get the win."

Aces by 6 I reckon so long as their reserves can match the Coventry reserves within a point or two.

Garrity will play a huge part in this fixture as last year he scored a full Max in one meeting and was on a paid Max in the other until he fell.

However Belle Vue are a lot stronger in 2nd string positions this year. We will also need Garrity to stay on his bike.

Robson is hoping to be back for this meeting otherwise Coventry will use a guest.

This has the making of a exciting close meeting.

I fancy the Bees to get something from this one.

I think Coventry will have the advantage at reserve, Garrity is a track specialist and Sarjeant is riding well. However, even though Andersen and Harris are also Belle Vue specialists, I think we have the stronger 1-5 at home.

Overall, I think Coventry will go away without a point unless they outscore us at reserve by 6 or more.

Zagar/Nichols should outscore Hans/Harris by 2 or 3. Cook/stead should match king/joonas or outscore by a point or 2. Fricke tovoutscore Robson by 4. Coventry prob score a couple more at reserve. Could still go either way but aces need to win to show they are genuine play off material

Sorry confused. Not sure what the reference to Garrity and heat 15 for the Colts was about. He has returned since then. Got a full Max at Belle Vue last year with Coventry. It's the programme rides we need him to do well in.

Garrity is only riding one league this year which I think will make it harder for him as less money or track time.

However on paper I think Coventry look stronger at reserve. We are going to need top 5 firing, just as Belle Vue are going to need a good week again from stead and Cook.

I'm really looking forward to this one. Coventry have put together a team that look strong away from home again. That said, I think this is one of the strongest looking Belle Vue 1-7 esp at Kirby Lane, I have seen over the last few years.

I think Coventry will push them close and take a point.

Think this will be too close to call. No room for Bike problems or falls

Agree. Could be wrong but with Lakeside's away form, I would imagine that meeting will be more predictable than this one.

Imagine this to be very close as Belle Vue look much stronger at home this year than last.

We all know how unpredictable speedway can be though.

Zagar and Harris both looked super fast tonight in the GP

What do you reckon will happen?

Glad you like my posts babe.

To be honest as you will noticed I haven't made any score prediction. If I had to then I think Bees might get a point.

How about you?

I hope Simon Stead is okay after his crash as well.
