sommelier
I'm not a big fan of Tai but when it comes to the world cup he would be the first rider I would pick. It's a shame Nicholls has retired from the world cup as in great form at the moment. At king's Lynn I would have: Woffy (currently top GB rider) Harris (scored strongly there in 2014/2013 cup) Lambert (Flying around Lynn so far) It's the last place I struggle with. Last year both Stead and King did well at King's Lynn. King has started the season very strongly. Stead rides really well round Lynn and can gate so would depend on form nearer the time. I'm undecided on Lawson as sometimes he's brilliant but then the next meeting average. I wouldn't use Howarth as Kings Lynn is one of his worst tracks and it's different beating people as 2nd string and in a world cup. Cook has struggled in recent weeks as a second string for Belle Vue and was very poor last year. Newman is a way off being ready to race in the World Cup IMO. He's one of the lowest ranked riders on the draft (even though better than his ranking) not unbeatable in PL & EL and that's against 2nd strings. Definetely no Barker or Bridger Well i'll probably get shot down in flames, but if Bridger WAS still riding he would be one of my contenders, his last years form in the UK & Poland was is best season by far! Daniel Smith
Howarth? Based on what? Averaging 5.5 in the PL. That puts him behind a few of them fast track riders you don't want. Based on giving experience to an up and coming rider that's doing well in the Elite League. Premier League form is irrelevant when looking at playing international cards. Gavan
Well i'll probably get shot down in flames, but if Bridger WAS still riding he would be one of my contenders, his last years form in the UK & Poland was is best season by far! Contender for the squad maybe. Dont get people asking for Newman He beats most reserves in the elite league, occasionally beats the od second string and is miles away from being a pemier league number 1. Good little rider yes, but nowhere near good enough. If you think Newman could be there then Blackbird, Garrity, Auty, have to be mentioned. And all of those are below the likes of Stead, Cook, King , Barker, and Kennett I get blooding the youngsters is the right way but the likes of Lambert and Howarth are well clear of Newman
Bagpuss
Has Nicholls given up his commentating/studio expert role then?! Hence why the poster specified 'given all are available' I expect.
Woz01
We shouldn't be blooding youngsters in a world cup. Need to arrange test matches or look at form in the u21 world cup to do that job. In the world cup you should pick your best squad. Panthers89
IMO, atm has to be: 1. Tai 2. Harris 3. Lambert 4. King 5. Lawson/Cook King edges ahead of Lawson and Cook, but not inspiring, but the best we have, obviously if Nicholls reconsidered, then would replace King, and King for the #5 spot.

I use to be of the same opinion but I think we really need to push on with youth and that means using them at every level. The problem with test matches we've had over here in recent years is the opposition isn't of the highest calibre so our young guys don't know what they need to change to be the best or better. The BSPA are not a GB friendly association and there's no future in using 30 something rider's every year. The Stead's, King's and even Lawson who is 29 offers no international future. I've got my fingers crossed Rosco will give us something different along the lines of what Rob Lyon wanted to achieve and not the same old clap trap Midlo dished us up in his tenure
Buttons
Your'e assuming he would have been an Aussie had that path been clear for him then? Quite possible he wanted to be a Brit all along. Tai also said, when he is finished with Speedway, he will go back home to Australia, so I would imagine he sees himself as an Aussie. SCB
Based on giving experience to an up and coming rider that's doing well in the Elite League. Premier League form is irrelevant when looking at playing international cards. 2 meetings averaging 6.67? Compare that to Kennett(!!!!), King and Lawson. The latter two who are riding as heat leader. In one of his 2 EL meetings he beat Holder and Grazojnek - fair play, then only beat reserves after that for a score of 8. in the next one he beat Kim Nilsson twice and Rich Lawson once and a few reserves for a score of 7. Then his guest booking, he beat Fricke (x2), Stead and Nicholls in 6 rides. So a better meeting. I wouldn't be getting too excited about Hoawrth just yet. longlivefrankie
Personally wouldn't have Woffy. He didn't want British speedway this season, we ain't gonna win so use Harris & King for experience and put Robert Lambert, Kyle Howarth and Kyle Newman. If we need to have a squad fill it with youngsters not been there not done its. Do you The English FA didn't pick any footballers who played abroad...linekar, beckham

It's not about excitement, it's about development and our youngsters are not going to get it from the BSPA as a whole. That responsibility has been left with the GB manager to manage With regards to Kennett and Lawson, trick track averages do nothing for international competitions and King just isn't up to it. Time to move on

Mr Blobby
Riders like Stead, Cook , King and Kennett are the riders who have been there not done it. Don't understand how you can say Cook is a rider that has been there and not done it he has only done one event at kings lynn. After throwing his toys out of the pram for not being included in the main squad at King's Lynn last year Cook should not even be considered............... Would rather he throw his toys out the pram than not give a toss about being included or not IMO. uk_martin
Interesting comments by Scott Nicholls on the subject of managing Team GB whilst filling in time in the Warsaw SGP show. See how long before he gets asked to explain himself at SCB Supreme Headquarters in Rugby.

Sorry, I read it differently - 'given all are available' usually means its a statement of fact rather than asking a question?! eg 'it's a given!'. It was not a statement of fact, merely to say who I think deserves to be in the team irrespective of politics. Anyway, how about a few bumps be inserted at Lynn, the Aussies don't seem to like them
