Speedway World Cup Team Gb Squad

Recommended Posts

Personally wouldn't have Woffy. He didn't want British speedway this season, we ain't gonna win so use Harris & King for experience and put Robert Lambert, Kyle Howarth and Kyle Newman. If we need to have a squad fill it with youngsters not been there not done its.

Posted this weeks ago, you cannot be a Brit just when it suits you. No matter what his excuse for not riding in the Best Pairs it's obvious he has no pride in being a Brit so this Brit says sod off back to Oz .

Hoping Harris is made captain for the World Cup ahead of Woffy.

I know there are people who are sometimes critical of Harris but one thing nobody could question is his dedication to riding for his country and British speedway

You'd jeopordise a 200k job to participate in the 3rd round of a meaningless invitational event?

Probably not But why were the British fans treated with contempt? Been on social media etc all week and longer that Cook and Woffy were representing GB. All Woffy had to do was issue a statement before today. Let's face it, it took him about 30 mins from his first tweet moaning about the fans moaning before he issued one. Common courtesy IMO to the British fans.

No doubt the BSPA etc are far from blame free, but they are well known for treating fans with contempt.

sorry but i find these comments pathetic.

Tai Woffinden is a credit to British Speedway. Stop all the crap about being from oz he wears the Union Jack and has done good things for British Speedway.

If you care to look at the facts he is contracted to his Polish club to perform certain duties for them over the weekend. If he fails to do that he is in breach of his contract and in danger of a big fine or expulsion from his club.

The best pairs is NOT an fim event so he isnt legally contracted to ride. What would you do in his position?? Get off the guys back we have a British World Champion in 2013 and all people want to do is knock him.

The issue is why we have Schlein riding. Well done to Tai for not riding tonight and actually doing the right thing

If so it would be nice for every EL, Club to run on a NIGHT that suits them as a business,,not pushed into it ok they get compensated a bit but i don't think it is ideal Dress it up as much as you like this GP series has really affected our speedway in Britain.

Most tracks aren't available on the weekend anyway.

Apparently the ten man squad is to be named tomorrow. If Tai, Bomber, Schlein and Nicholls were available I would pick them as my first choice four. I would add some up and coming improving riders, I would ignore such as King and Kennett, they've had plenty of chances and never stepped up to the mark. Lambert, Garritty, Cook and a 'coming into form' Barker would also be on my list, maybe Richard Lawson and one other. If we end up with a side like in recent years, it would seem pointless to me to take riders who are already proven not to be up to it and haven't improved. Lambert must have learned a lot last weekend and would probably have scored more points if his partner hadn't kept getting under his feet.

Nicholls clearly isn't going to be picked, and I'm pretty sure Schlein isn't elegible?

So it's got to be Tai, Harris, Lambert and one other.

I'd probably go Lawson for this round, but could equally go King/Barker/ or even Garritty/R worrall. Cook I think has a pretty horrible record at Kings Lynn, but would probably be my choice for the next round.

So my ten would probably be: Tai, Harris, Lambert, Lawson, Cook, Barker, King, Garrity,Howarth, Newman. Realistically, I see no point in naming of a ten man squad, but if you're doing it you may as well name a couple of youngsters who won't get a meeting (e.g. Howarth and Newman).

All the crap could have been avoided had a proper, detailed press release been put out from the start! Who's job was that?

Well, Onesport should have updated the line up, but it might have impacted on the gate, and they have a track record of mis-leading the public

You'd have though the BSPA/SCB would have made a atstement about a change in line up, but for some reason they didn't

Tai should never have needed to be the one putting out the press release, but did so in the end due to a bunch of pathtic whingers, who continued to whinge even after he'd explained the situation. Good to see him go out and post a 15 point maximum as his response.

The promoters of the meeting, OneSport.

Nobody else.

What, the same One Sport that Trees was telling us last week operate the best model for World Championship Speedway.

Surely these couldn't have been the people who billed a meaningless challenge as some sort of World pairs event, couldn't get the programmed riders to compete, served it up on a track resembling a ploughed field in a stadium environment that was a track in a field in front of a few hundred spectators.

Get used to it though folks because if the likes of BSI lose interest in the SGP this was a vision of the future

BSPA/Rosco. It's his/theirs team so it's his/theirs responsibility to know and inform about what riders is in Team GB. If Rosco didn't knew I doubt OneSport new.

Just like each participating nation in SWC have press releases for their squads.
