sidewinder
Sad state of affairs i always enjoy visiting with the comets not because of the result naturally but to catch up with father havvy .Like most clubs attendances are dropping to a degree where promoters quite rightly will not continue to finance the sport out of their own pocket .Glasgow aside how many clubs are on a even footing financially ? I love the sport and have supported the comets through very lean times indeed partly because i wanted to go partly because i didnt want to lose the club .Unfortunately it was lost to the town and i for one didnt think it was coming back .Redcar has a purpose built track with no neighbour worries admittedly they might not be the strongest looking outfit but instead of walking away why not hang in there if it closes you may never get it back again . Sadly this state of affairs, is mainly brought about by Havelock and the rest of the consortium. I would bet if you canvassed the stay away supporters (of which I am now one), the majority would say, it was due to the contempt shown to them by the management. It isn't a question of hanging in there, because with Havelock there, nothing will change. Under the present management, the quality of the product is nowhere near fit enough for consumption. In it's present guise losing the speedway would not be a total disaster, in fact it may have to happen. A good many people I know from there, think it may have to come to that. At today's prices the old chestnut, ( that some speedway is better than no speedway) does not hold. My own personal hope is that this management go and we get a "Pheonix effect" because there are interested parties out there. This club can definitely be run at a profit, it just needs managing with some imagination.
Whiteliner
Could shut the place tomorrow for me, wouldnt miss it one bit. Save my money now to go to Berwick or Scunny every other week at least I see good speedway and Im entertained. I live less than 10 miles away from the Redcar Track, does that give you an idea of just what Havelock has done to the place ?

boz
Good win for the Bears against a admittedly struggling Scunthorpe side. I try to ignore all the politics etc, I go to enjoy watching 4 men racing on a track. Granted, the racing is not as good as it was previously but has been much better the last year or so. Would happily pay my £16 every week to just watch Lasse Bjerre - the boy is awesome! Rode hard tonight and never knows when he is beaten, he was massively disappointed at the end to have dropped a point! Good to see Skidmore back on the pace , and Jan again had a good night at number 2. Special mention to the reserves though - only one last between them! Rafal looked much smoother and calmer tonight, whilst Ben was solid throughout. The boy can gate, which gives him a much better chance! For Scunthorpe, Josh Auty was excellent value, rode his socks off and probably deserved more. Wilko was always going to have a good night, and Pijper chipped in with some useful points. Have to say I expected more from the reserves. Lunna was exciting to watch but his gating let him down, and thought Perks might have been capable of a few more points. Still think a long season ahead for the Bears, but good to get a win on the board.
Paul Johnson
scunny are struggling because of lack of matches, we have only done 3 since the 3rd week of march, how many meetings have the other teams done upto now? at least now we have a run of 4 meetings in as many days, league cup means nothing, whose bothered about winning it? not us scunny fans, we just want to see us getting it all together, we always start slow,

phillwhitewasmad
Im with tony nobody remembers the league cup I see these meetings as track time for the team, even more so when you loose your first two, would suggest manager was thinking the same when giving Perks all his rides

JamesM09
If you won the Leauge Cup i'm sure your opinions about it would change.

And surely Scunny are in the business of winning meetings? Even if qualification had gone you still want to win meetings to build confidence and momentum for the PL campaign surely? Redcar were only three points ahead at heats 9 & 12, where Lunna could (should) have taken one of Perks' rides.
semion
If The Scunny Promotion aint bothered with the League Cup, I hope Godfrey aint gonna start bleating about crowd numbers, as maybe the fans will feel that way also. Where on earth is the encouragement to get the people thorugh the gate ? Or is it all smoke and Mirrors cos Scunny appear to have put together what looks a very average side, thats being being kind ? Maybe the feeling they are getting is coming from The Promotion there.
