bigeddiechek
Trouble is they are having trouble attracting this new blood that you crave.Wonder why? I don't know about that: this is not me towing any line either, but I a lot of people I know in the area that are new to the sport are starting to come regularly. Now, they are not really into the nitty gritty of the sport, but actually enjoy the night out. What would you prefer; a less knowledgable fan base that enjoy themselves, or a knowledgable fan base who are miserable? I understand the complaints, so I am not saying they are not valid, but I am also pointing out that I meet just as many people (more actually) who enjoy Saturday nights. They just don't feel the need to come on here and type about it, I suppose. Maybe they just need me to do that on their behalf

I'm not arguing with anyone who is complaining on here, I'm just pointing out that there are people who enjoyed that. Maybe it is because they are folk that enjoy going to live events? I don't know, that might be the reason, I'm guessing. I know one of them thought the presentation was very slick and had a good pace to it tonight. Others that I have been with in the past enjoy watching the riders styles and techniques. For others it is a night out at something that is a lot more attractive to them than sitting in the pub, or watching telly. Tonight, Cook was pretty impressive to watch. Each to their own. What I was saying earlier is that the sport maybe needs people who go to enjoy it rather than expecting some speedway nirvana? I mean that with regard to the sport in general. Its the standard answer from you I'm afraid ,we will see how much of the new regulars are there at the end of the season, because is that is the standard of entertainment they will be the new fan base. It's maybe a regular answer - not a standard answer - so, next time these guys are along, I'll introduce you. I know you really don't enjoy speedway at Berwick, but some do. Is that a bad thing? Do they not have a right to enjoy it?

Where are these people the sport is looking for.Where are all the previous fans who went to watch speedway ,why do they not enjoy going to live events now ,that is the question the sport has to answer going by your theories. Robinh88
I find the whole situation quite sad, I agree with Mr Dyson we need to put faith in John and Heppy to sort the team out and get us winning again

I'll introduce you to the people who have started coming over the past 1-2 seasons. They have a completely different perspective to maybe you and I. One of them thinks people who pay money to get in the greet about the track and promotion are a bit loopy. Just their humble opinion though!

I'm not sure how to explain this? Are they not right to enjoy their night out? i talk to lots of people who 'used to go to speedway' and most of them say they stopped because it was a lot of money to watch four riders follow each other I've yet to meet a returning fan and am sure it's not just Berwick
TheScotsman
Folk still go to F1 in their big tens of thousands and pay a small fortune to do so. And all they get is follow my leader for sixty odd laps with very little passing apart from against a car that is 10mph slower. . Think folks are being a touch harsh. You have lost to Glasgow and Edinburgh at home in a pre-league competition without having your high scoring number 1 available or fit. Both of those teams are amongst the favourites to be at the top end of the league come the end of the season.

About time the old fool on the centre green stood down It honestly doesn't really enter into their thinking. Maybe it is because they are not too close to it? They don't want to be the riders' mates, or the promotions' mates. They just enjoy a night out at the speedway. Sometimes the simple approach to life is the best! Yes, they had their TR in Heat 8 but then proceeded to go on and win by 5... Tonight against you lot.. Heat 8... A 1-5 would have been VERY unexpected giving that Sedgman had not scored up till that point.. you then pull away from that point... We seem to switch off somewhat in the 2nd half of a meeting.. happened last season too... Must say... It does get very disheartening when you've followed your club for so long and still don't have much in terms of success that you've seen or can remember seeing (other than 2 4TT trophies; I don't remember being at Oxford for the Gold Cup even though I was). It really is sad to read this... but things need to improve dramatically!
