Super Blue
Yes, just had a look on Google earth and could definitely see how the OTA could be awkward and a challenge for those who normally ride traditional shape tracks. CardinalSin
From Mike Bacon in the Ipswich Star "This result was very much needed after Monday's poor effort at Peterborough by the Witches and some of the racing was top drawer. "It wasn't a case of the Witches gating all the time, far from it, as they came from the back on many occasions, thrilling the good sized home crowd. "Tungate produced a brave and stunning first lap pass on the outside of Richie Worrall in heat four. It was a jaw-dropping ride from the Aussie" I couldn't make the meeting last night, so is Mike Bacon over egging the omelette here, or is "Scotsman" being unfairly and overly critical of the meeting? Or possibly a bit of both and the meeting was somewhere in the middle? On a side note, good to read it was a healthy crowd!
TheScotsman
I agree there was a fair number of spectators there. I doubt the crowd was healthy though!
2ndbendbeerhut
Comparing Somerset to Ipswich, The tracks are the same width, if the home straights are overlaid then the back straight of Somerset would be the stock car track at Ipswich.... makes sense? Baldyman
Tungate did make a very good pass, but I don't remember seeing anyone's jaw on the floor. I think bacon has gone a bit over the top, but I guess he is only trying to sell it

dontforgetthefueltapsbruv
Id say Mike Bacon has made a pudding using a dozen eggs when only 3 were needed and that The Scotsman is just a miserable foreigner! wink Boro are obviously his southern team as proved by his 2 programme bricks.
Baldyman
Gotta give it to Mike though.. He has certainly made it sound brilliant.. maybe Chris should give him a job as head of marketing, the place will be rammed

Much respect Mr Bruv. Not many people read every word in the programme! You'll have noticed the heat 1 sponsor too! My southern team was a choice from Lakeside, Rye House, Ippo, Peterborough or Mildenhall. From a racing preference it was between the last two and I opted for Peterborough. For some strange reason I have never seen a decent meeting at Ippo and very few at Rye.
2ndbendbeerhut
Nope Imagine that the current track at Foxhall used the home straight on the shale then used the back straight of the stock car track. that would be like Somerset..... My partner comes from Bury st Edmunds so whenever we travel there to see her family, we always take in an Ippo meeting. Probably see 2 or 3 meetings a season, and I've yet to see a poor one! Only been since 2013 mind and haven't been this year yet.
