Trees
Yep a close meeting will be good but some overtaking would represent value for money for me! Hmmmm NCFC don't really need to do an awful lot, a full stadium for each home game with lots of media coverage does the job. Always playing for something ie promotion or relegation has helped as well over the last six or seven seasons. Well of course not re the Canaries, that is why I wish the Adrian Flux Arena was in Norwich, there is definitely more passion shown if the Canaries are anything to go by. It could be just a football thing of course!Reason I asked about how they rev the fans up was because I'm sure I heard the commentator on the radio getting some response from crowd? semion
Thats Brilliant on your part GRW, and that works for you. However, we are not all the same. Some people cannot afford to throw £50 ( 2 PEOPLE, FUEL PROG, EATS, DRINKS) every week at Speedway. For that kind of money should people not expect something in return, like that old fashioned word called entertainment ? For me, to stand out in freezing cold weather watching precessional Speedway is not high up on my priorty list these days. If that makes me fine weather supporter/ occasional supporter, well I can live with that. Maybe You could consider it mght not be the fault of the supporter but the the fault of what the Sport now has to offer for the price asked. Speedway has stiff competition for the £ these days.
Bagpuss
They play some loud dramatic music as the teams come out and the man on the mic starts a rendition of OTBC with a particular spectator just before kick off. A loud away following also adds to the atmosphere. I think an enclosed stadium with rooves makes a big difference too.
semion
The build up for a City game starts way before match day. The PR that you find on the net and EDP Social media is massive. When you arrive at Carrot Road you can cut the atmosphere with a knife the excitment level is massive. It then builds duing the period to kick off, players out on the pitch warming up etc... Then The Guy on the mic really ramps it up. Its Noisy, its exciting, it colourful you just get carried along on the wave of expectation and excitement. The time flys by, then when City score the place errupts, players running over to receive the plaudits from the fans and of course its freely given. Players supporters all in it together. They are City fans and City Players. Those players are on decent money, but its all about the passion for them, giving their all for the Club, Team and its supporters. Its called Entertainment. Any Bits Ive missed Baggy ? Edited April 8, 2015 by semion

whippy
I didn't realise there were still so many, fine weather supporters. I thought most of the sports genuine supporters that are left, are die hard nutters like me, who go every week, but obvious not.. Here we are, a month into the season, and some haven't been yet, they're some can't be bothered, and others don't know whether they're going or not........ What has this sport succumb to ??? How can this sport survive with support like that. ...... Well Buster, I will be there as per usual, supporting our local team, win lose or draw, Close meeting or not, Good racing or not, Crap track or not I'll be there. I'll witness all the good and the bad, I will smell all the fumes, I will drink all the coffee, and whatever the result I will thoroughly enjoy myself..... and I will go again next week..... That's the reason the wife calls me a speedway nutter............. And I'm proud of it...... Same here. We will be there as long as there is a meeting.on. We live for our speedway and it is a long winter without it. Found a nice sheltered spot last week and really enjoyed watching RL especially. We missed being at usual place on first bend but it was too cold to be up top and it was good to be down on back straight for a change where you get such a sense of speed. lionheart
Predict a home win. Think King's Lynn will be too strong for Belle Vue I don't think anyone will contradict you. The Aces, particularly Cookie have carried on exactly as they went through 2014.

Star Lady
Was seriously considering going to this one but having read about the BV performance last night at Wolves who let's face it are nowhere near as strong as Lynn, I'm not going to bother. I'll save myself for Peterboro on Sunday. I read with interest GBs post about NCFC and he mentioned something I had forgotten about - promotion and relegation keeping the season alive. With speedway at present it really doesn't matter how the team do from April to August just as long as they amass enough points to get to the play-offs so if you miss a couple of meetings it really doesn't matter. (I know Trees and GRW will say differently ) Even the play-offs don't have the cut and thrust of a relegation/promotion battle. We all know next year it will be the same teams and they can be as dire as they like in 2015 they will still be there in 2016.

pointsmeanplayoffs
I think that Kerr and Morris could be the key tonight as the main bodies look pretty even. Morris has impressed me and should outscore Nielsen who looked uncomfortable on a big fast track at Pbo the other night. Kerr will match Worrall. It's gonna be a tight one. semion
If riders can miss a few meetings for your club while they ride for one of their X Number of other clubs then no harm supporters missing the odd few meets.
lastword
Was seriously considering going to this one but having read about the BV performance last night at Wolves who let's face it are nowhere near as strong as Lynn, I'm not going to bother. I'll save myself for Peterboro on Sunday. . I think that this is one of the most dispiriting remarks I have seen on a speedway board for some time. I assume from her regular posts on here that Star Lady is what we would call a regular speedway fanatic, and yet despite supporting arguably the best team in the league, and this being only the second home match of a new season, she decides not to bother going. The fact that one of her reasons is that she thinks her team will win easily makes it all the more baffling to me. I do not mean any disrespect to Star Lady, and with the sport in such a poor financial state in the UK already we surely cannot afford to lose people like her, even for the odd few matches. If only promoters would read and take note of comments like hers they might realise that they really do need to do a hell of a lot more to put on an attractive night out. Star Lady
The fact that one of her reasons is that she thinks her team will win easily makes it all the more baffling to me. I'm one of those strange folk who would prefer to see an entertaining meeting and lose than win and watch a load of processions. I've always been the same - I reckon it's because I started watching Lynn in the 60s and we very rarely used to win but we did get entertainment. I hate to harp back to those days but we had a full meeting, a second half, junior races and if we were lucky a couple of Golden Helmet match races. We rarely saw a tractor, we rarely saw a bike taking off into space but we saw loads of charecters who whether for real or simply to entertain the fans would wag fists at opponents (occasionally land a punch) would chase other riders across the centre green and even charge up to the refs box. Nowadays the sport has been sanitised within an inch of it's life. Bet you can't remember much about last years racing in the a certain meeting, but sure as hell remember Woffy and his shovel - I rest my case . I still remember Alan Wilkinson vaulting the fence at Lynn and charging up to the refs box. The crowd went wild, he probably just said "Hi Mate, that's got them going" to the ref but we all enjoyed it. I can't honestly remember the last time a rider actually went out of his way to entertain the fans other than by riding his bike.
Trees
Some people see the light a lot earlier than others. You both must be at that awkward age, Semion and SL ;-) What you are saying SL is that you want Buster and Rob to put an average team together who struggle to win meetings? I think back to our great PL days when there was great team spirit and all the fans loved to see these boys doing the biz home and away. We had bitter sweet times with the loss of Ash Jones, it meant so much in 2006 to win what they could in his name. Why can we not have that same passion about our team that we did in the PL days and 1999, 2000, 2001 .... I guess it's just a few people on here aren't really bothered anymore, there are plenty who are :-D Edited April 8, 2015 by Trees
Star Lady
Not saying that at all Trees. I simply want to be entertained by decent racing and not stand there waiting for another procession whilst listening to tractors!!! As it happens I did prefer PL and still do. I fail to see why it's so difficult to provide 2 hours entertainment. Rory managed it!!! I'm more than happy with the odd away meeting and a few trips to Peterborough & Mildenhall, where RACING is the norm not the exception.
Trees
Re the track grading, I'm sure Buster did as much grading then as he does now and surely it's all part and parcel of speedway!
