Trees
Bloody hell now you're going back, you were young, carefree, enthusiastic and speedway was new in Lynn in them days, of course your memories are all rose tinted :-D
Bagpuss
Think it was men with rakes until Buster came in.
semion
Surely you mean Huggy Gord. The reason there is a lack of atmosphere now compared to the Norties is the team then were very fan freindly. A chappie i know use to sponsor a rider back then. The rider in question always made time for him prior to the meeting and had a drink with him after the meeting. The same Chappie then sponsored another rider when we moved up into the Elite League. When he paid the rider a visit prior to the meeting, the rider completely ignored him and in fact had no idea who he even was. Thats just one example of how things have changed. Ive said it before the top riders in the Elite League now are just Hired Guns. Tuesday Night Sweden, Wed Night UK, Thurs Night Denmark, Sunday Poland, throw in a couple of individual meets into the mix. Trees question for you. Would you prefer it now or back in the day when we had the likes of Doolan TT etc ? Or going even further back to the days of Betts, Turner, Hellsen etc ? The Sport has lost its way. You both must be at that awkward age, Semion and SL ;-) Trees we all have opinions on the sport and indeed The Stars. Look at yourself when Lynn Dropped out of the Elite and Into the Prem, who threw their toys out of the pram over that one ?
cityrebel
Bloody hell now you're going back, you were young, carefree, enthusiastic and speedway was new in Lynn in them days, of course your memories are all rose tinted :-Dmost of us of a certain age do look at speedway with rose tinted glasses, but I know one thing for certain. I would rather be sitting in the grandstand at west ham or Wimbledon than standing on a muddy slope at lakeside when watching meetings!
whippy
Well, we will go regardless just because we are grateful to be able to see some speedway. it is worth a 60+ miles round trip just to see the sport we love. Just love speedway.

andypoll
Well alot better than I expected. Poor showing from zagar and stead. In fact very poor. Need a rocket up there arse already. Well done rest of team though. I know cook didd'nt score much but I expected that Glad you think this as I didn't want to talk out of turn being so early in the season but when Zagar, Stead and Cook only get 8 pts between them it just isnt good enough. Wont win any meetings if they don't improve.
bellevueace
Shocking from Zagar there can be no excuse for a rider of his undoubted ability, i was one of those not celebrating the signing of Stead and am not suprised with his showing think he will come up short for us and as for Cooke he,s reached as far as he is going and was another i wouldnt have had back, early days but shaping up like so many of our past seasons...good on paper woeful on track.
Daniel Smith
Well, considering the standard of our last 2 meeting tonight was brilliant. Close racing, plenty of passing and no tractor racing. I believe the racing was hugely improved due to the fact the track was left which allowed it to develop different racing lines. Mr Buster Chapman, more of that please
mdmc82
sounds like it was a good close meeting. Promising signs for both teams, a lot closer than I thought it would be.
Fozzie4388
Guessing Rosco won't be picking Stead for Team GB this year then, Actually he probably still will.
lynnboy
Ashley morris had what sounded like a very expensive blow up on the start line while practicing after the meeting one of the worst I have ever heard, sounded like the piston came straight out of the bottom of the engine 🙉
Bagpuss
Really enjoyed that......good company, milder weather, decent racing and all over and done with in an hour and a half ish. Thought we looked good apart from the reserves who will get it together soon I'm sure. Belle Vue were let down by Zagar, Stead and to a lesser extent Cook but the other four rode very well. Track slick which may have caught one or two riders out but led to several good races until it slickened off a bit too much towards the end. Less dirt and less grading leads to more lines at Lynn generally speaking so more of the same will do nicely.
tellboy
Good close meeting tonight. Some very hard and good racing aswell SL.Was expecting it to be close to be honest as the top 5 from both teams looked evenly balanced.Thought the reserves would have won it for us tonight but how wrong was I.So it was good that the top 5 scored well for us tonight or else we could have quite easily have lost. Don't know why Fricke didn't acknowledge Lambert when he beat him in ht 5 Lambert tried pinning him on bend 1 and they clashed and then Fricke clashed into him on the back straight to even it up.Nicholls was brilliant in his last 3 races. Hopefully Swindon will provide the same amount of entertainment in a couple of weeks.
ZODIAK
As an Ipswich supporter I'm pleased that Stefan Nielsen scored a few points after having an awful start to the season. He's been struggling to get his machinery going but promising signs that he's getting that sorted.
stevebrum
No surprises the Stars dominated proceedings. The Aces sadly are showing that they don't ride on paper and their usual inability to pick up points on the road is so far very much in evidence. Zagar getting GPitis a bit early isn't he? Mimmo
As others have said, a good meeting which was definitely helped by the not so regular grading, which in turn also lead to a much swifter run meeting, which is what the public want. Obviously on this occasion, Belle Vue were weak in certain areas, but then so are we at times when riding away, just look at the Lakeside meeting on Good Friday. Nicholls and to a lesser extent Fricke were top draw, well supported by Worrall. The Aces rider that took my eye was Nielsen, who has made a torrid start to the season, but he showed some form last night. I do however accept that both Lewis Kerr and Ashley Morris were off song, which no doubt boosted the scores of their two reserves. I think the future is bright for the 'Stars' because I doubt that the two reserves will have another night like that this season (at home), and if I were an 'Aces' fan, I wouldn't feel to disheartened, because I doubt Zagar and Cook will have many bad nights like that either. At the end of the day, everybody rides as a team, and its up to others to cover for fellow team mates who are struggling for whatever reason. Now changing the subject, what on earth is the Buster Chapman column all about in the programme? It's been identical, word for word, for three meetings on the trot now, and having known him for many years that's not his style. We are paying £2.50 for a programme, which is about par for the course, but we shouldn't have to be reading exactly the same things on both page 3 and 7 every week for our money. Finally, well done to Dale Allitt who stepped up to the plate, and did a tremendous job in covering for Rob Lyon. Like the riders, you did us proud. Trees
Agreed re the programme, if Buster doesn't want to have any input into the programme, don't bother at all having a column. It's a pity that whoever produces the programme doesn't proof read it better too. I'm personally sorry Buster doesn't have more input on race nights, we like to hear and read about his passion. Did Matt mention the Rider of the Night from the meeting before as voted for by the fans on the Internet, can't more be made of the accolade? pointsmeanplayoffs
Well that was more straightforward than I thought it was going to be! Big difference was the return to form of Kenneth Bjerre, apparently he has reverted back to his old engines after the new ones for this season haven't been working out that well (putting it mildly!). Say what you like about Bjerre but I think we can rely on him to WIN races when we're at home against fellow heat leaders which takes the pressure of Niels and Rory. Speaking of Rory, I thought he was rider of the night for Stars, superb. He looks a different rider this year. One point of concern was our reserves being outscored, at home, again. Nice to see Porsing back on form too after a disrupted start to the season.
Bagpuss
Lewis Kerr is bound to come good at some point, he's had a relatively slow start compared to last season but he had ran out of steam come Play Off time so perhaps this year he will hit form towards the end when it really matters.
