2ndbendbeerhut
But when the Peterborough riders didn't gate they weren't much better! Yes it sorted the men from the boys possibly but I couldn't watch a meeting like that every week. Strange that when Ostergaard came off then some track grading was done. .. too Little too late! King loves that track, remember him in the swc against Gollob a few years back?

King loves that track, remember him in the swc against Gollob a few years back? Some good racing tonight and on a track which suited most of the Panthers but only King of the Witches. It was a bit heavy and possibly a bit too wet but it was entertaining and as you mentioned it sorted the men out from the boys. I think Peterborough will be a different animal after today, and I could watch meetings like that every night.

If you couldn't watch a meeting like that every week then you can't have visited Leicester regularly....;-) Track did look a little deep in places but was refreshing to see some decent racing and passing. Well done Panthers and an excellent performance by Danny King. At least not all the tracks along the A47 produce boring speedway
Baldyman
That's it, deep grippy track and some Ipswich riders can't ride on it, it's not the panthers fault some of our riders don't have balls big enough to get stuck out in it. And watching tungate tonight backs up my reasoning on why he will never ever be a proper number one, unlike king who loved getting out in the deep stuff and looked in total control in it.
CardinalSin
Not going to read too much in to todays defeat. As soon as we looked at the track a few of us said it wasn't going to suit most of our boys and so it proved. We'll have much better away days I'm sure let's just hope we don't meet the Panthers in the play offs! If we do they'll know exactly what sort of track to produce. Well done to the Panthers though they looked very good and it's been a very good day for them so fair play.
Baldyman
It didn't suit us no, but what bothers me is they couldn't adapt to it either. Just take king for example, way of the pace in heat one,he made some changes and the rest is history, surely the other riders know how to adapt their bikes and lines to suit? Lukas
..if I remember right Chris Louis used to moan about too much grip at the showground..must be an Ipswich thing..thought you tractor boys would feel at home on knee deep muddy tracks!..anyway I prefer it to dustbowl Lakeside style racing. Trees
If that track was a Panthers ploy to win meetings (I should hope not!) don't expect too many neutrals to attend! On the other hand, come back to the EL, miss our local derbies 😊 Edited April 6, 2015 by Trees

Just take king for example, way of the pace in heat one,he made some changes and the rest is history, surely the other riders know how to adapt their bikes and lines to suit? Think it's just a case of King being a far better rider than anyone else in our team at present. I bet the Panthers wish he was leading them! Class number 1 in this league. As for the others, just not good enough on the day although you can make excuses for Hawkins. Not ideal coming back from cracked ribs on that track was it? Tungate has never liked those kind of conditions since he's been over here, that's something he needs to address if he's to progress in to an EL rider that he wants to do. Same for Manzares, can look sublime at Foxhall, can look very poor away from home comforts. Had the excuse last year of seeing the tracks for the first time, hasn't got that excuse this season so needs to up his game away from home. Having said that, we won't see those kind of conditions too often thankfully and we'll have much better away days and we'll definitely be in the mix come the end of the season, injuries permitting. Gavan
Said it before and I will say it again you get boring meetings at Peterborough a lot when they set the track up like that. One line by the fence and hope you hang on. Having said that our boys were awful with the exception of King and Heeps. I said this side to me was weaker on paper than last year and I stand by that. Is King , Gino and Rohan as heat leaders stronger than Worrall , Risager and Rohan? I would say similar. Are Cam and Ritchie H as second strings stronger than Cam and Gino? No Are Nielsen and Nico as reserves better than Ellis and Ritchie H? No We are destined to be around the top 6 again but nowhere near strong enough to win it. We will win most at home but unlike some tracks we don't have huge advantage and some teams will win or draw at Foxhall and I cant see us getting a lot away
Trees
The Showground is normally spot on, as most neutrals would probably confirm...Just not tonight eh! Oh I know it can be great so all the riders can have a good go, usually love speedway at the Showground!
Baldyman
Even if there is only one line by the fence, shouldn't that be the one that you ride on? It's not only for the home team to use. I hate travelling away and watching our riders crawl round the curb on the slowest line. Grow some balls boys.
TheScotsman
Yes it sorted the men from the boys possibly but I couldn't watch a meeting like that every week. Strange that when Ostergaard came off then some track grading was done. .. too Little too late! Tractor was out grading every 2 heats. Seemed to me there were more lines available than any other meeting at the showground this year - all down to a bit extra dirt. Definitely better to watch than what I see at Ippo, though I haven't been to Ippo this year yet.
Gemini
The Showground is normally spot on, as most neutrals would probably confirm... Yes, but not today - didn't really enjoy that as much as other matches I've been to. Overlooking the 3rd/4th bend it looked much too deep and over watered so presumably the 1st/2nd bend was the same. After moaning about all the track grading at Leicester in the first half of the match on Saturday I'm afraid Peterborough had more.
Arch Stanton
Definitely better to watch than what I see at Ippo, though I haven't been to Ippo this year yet. Good Friday's meeting at Foxhall was a far better meeting, IMO. The showground has a reputation of being one of, if not the best track in the Country and that's fully justified as it's an awesome race track when it's right. Tonight wasn't one of those nights. Lukas
I disagree with all the negative comments on the track tonight.. For me that's the best its been and I thought there was some good racing from the 7 guys who dared to race it. Likewise, the Witches fans could be negative because of the disappointment of their teams performance. Interestingly, two of the negative comments have come from supporters of neither team, that is telling.
TheScotsman
I think the point is that the track has been poor all season until tonight. It's not back to its best yet but tonight was a big improvement.
Gemini
Well, I'm not going to argue about that but I thought the Somerset match on March 22nd was far superior racing wise but probably not so good for Panthers fans as they lost. As a neutral tonight it was disappointing because only Danny and Cameron got stuck in and the track seemed to scare the rest of the Ipswich team.
