Guest WTF1
Unfortunately this infatuation of building a team around David Howe is one of Scunny's problems, he wouldn't make a heat leader in many teams never mind a number 1, fair enough in the first 3 years at the club he was a high scoring rider although Scunny were an average team, but from 2012 (when Scunny won the league without him) he has been dogged with injury but is still expected to perform by the management to number 1 standard, but in all honesty he finished last season on a 7 point average hardly number 1 standard so Scunny will have to struggle on through these meaningless challenge matches when hopefully after enough matches changes can be made
romans lovechild
Couldn't make it today so the big question to those who made it is ...... Did Scunthorpe make us look good or did Sheffield make them look bad? Just a question.... Honest? a bit of both dave, tigers were on fire today, but davies and pijper looked like they had not seen the track before.

Albert
Couldn't make it today so the big question to those who made it is ...... Did Scunthorpe make us look good or did Sheffield make them look bad? Just a question.... Honest? Bit of both... Some Scunny lads looked well rusty and appeared to need track time to get up to speed.... and one looked like he was on a meal ticket! Our two reserves showed promise, sharpen up their gating and they'll be fine. Josh Auty was awesome, that pass on Stead/Compton was just brilliant. That was the bright spot for us Scunny fans today, that was as good as it got. As for Sheffield.. they can only beat what's put infront of them, to be fair they did that pretty well. Thought Josh Bates looked particularly impressive. I think that result was inevitable, Sheffield lads have had extensive practice round Scunny in the last month or two...very professional in their seasons preparation...whereas Scunny ??
spin king
Cannot speak for today, but at Sheffield I think that Alex Davies was very disappointing, and certain no where near the rider he was. The pleasing fact from Sheffield point of view today was the overall team performance, in the past two seasons if Simon Stead had score only paid 8 from 4 rides would generally mean that they would have been humped, but all 6 of the riders chipped in with points and only 3 last places in 15 heats tells a tale. It is far to early to make any predictions about the coming season, but if we can have a team that stays fit, and Josh Bates can show us the controlled Josh Bates rather than the rash lets give the throttle a go twist I think that we may have hit on a team capable of pushing for a play off play offs.
Islander15
Cracking team performance from the Tigers! Any ideas behind the selection of riders for heat 15? Bates was justified, but didn't quite follow Bellego's selection - the result was beyond doubt I know, but seemed curious to pick the lowest scoring member of the top 5 Birks was ready to go before he was told he was ineligible.

If that last statement is true then the Scunthorpe promotion and riders need to take a long hard look at themselves, although I do find it hard to believe that the Sheffield team has had more practice time around the Scunthorpe track than the home riders. I also don't buy into the Scunny riders been rusty compared to the Sheffield riders, the Sheffield riders have not had a great amount of meeting this season. But the one thing that you get the feeling about the Sheffield team this season is that it is a team and a bunch of individuals. 4 of the side live or are based in Sheffield. 2 live in Barnsley 1 lives in Chesterfield. All the team are using the same engine tuner. And in the past when someone's bike has packed up they are queuing up to lend bikes out where in the past no one has been willing. Cue Ball
Why was he not eligible? I thought it had to be 2 of your top 3 scorers or reserves - with 9 points he was joint top scorer prior to beat 15
EIS002
All the practice at Scunny for the sheffield lads was on a dry slick track unlike today deep and grippy.
Albert
All the practice at Scunny for the sheffield lads was on a dry slick track unlike today deep and grippy. That old argument! Practice is practice, whatever the surface....and credit to Sheffield for putting the practice in. I've seen much more of the Sheffield lads and the Worrall brothers preseason round Scunny than I have of most of our own.

Albert
No idea and Birks thought the same. not in the top three averages...and including bonus points your three top scorers were Compton, Proctor and Bates.
Blackadder
All except Ashley and Arthur were eligible for Heat 15. Qualifiers are the top 3 in the averages and the top 3 scorers, including bonus points, from programmed rides. Bonus points don't count towards averages so why should they count them?
lucifer sam
Sometimes its best to say nothing. Spinny, yeah, first blood to you guys, while I look like a prat. However, it is only early April.... long, long way to go. I seem to recall you did the League Cup double over us in 2012. Enjoyed the speedway today (although will enjoy it more once the Scorps start winning), top notch stuff at the EWR as usual. Josh Auty's move in Heat 11 was sensational. Nice to see a good crowd as well - had to park in the secondary car park, because the main one was full. All the best Rob Edited April 6, 2015 by lucifer sam
SCB
not in the top three averages...and including bonus points your three top scorers were Compton, Proctor and Bates. Top 3 scorers were Compton with 11, Proctor with 10 and Birks with 9. Bates also had 9.
lucifer sam
Top 3 scorers were Compton with 11, Proctor with 10 and Birks with 9. Bates also had 9. No, Bates had 10 (9+1). All the best Rob
SCB
No, Bates had 10 (9+1). All the best Rob So he did. So Birks wasn't eligible. What a stupid rule that a guy with 9 cannot ride but a heat leader on 0 could. Scunthorpe could have put Alex Davies out! In fact, prior to heat 15 Scunthorpe only had 1 rider who had scored more than Birks! Edited April 7, 2015 by SCB
