Bruiser McHuge
Ah, I wasn't aware of Iversen's complaint. That said, I don't think he'd have lasted too long in Sunday League football back in the day. But then, our priority was getting scrubbed up ASAP to get down the pub; not to go whinging on Twitter! I think a supposed international sport attracting international sportsmen SHOULD be a step a dead of Sunday league football.....the fact that the two could even be compared says plenty about current day speedway.
Trees
It's a basic requirement and should be a standard for BEL! No excuses that tracks rely on volunteers, it is NOT their fault one jot, at the end of the day the promoter is responsible.

No excuse either for postponing meetings because the floodlights don't work. No excuse for the promoter lining his pockets by putting in an interval on a late running meeting and on a freezing cold night just so the promoter can line his pockets from the profits at the food outlets. No excuse for disgusting hotdogs in this day and age. No excuse for lots of things in speedway but they will continue for as long as the sport continues in its present precarious financial state. In the grand scheme of things a cold shower once in am while is not top of the list. Not excusable but that's the way it is.

Bagpuss
Actually there is a really good excuse for the 10 min interval on a cold night and that is to allow the track staff to go to the loo and have a hot drink after standing out in the cold for over an hour! 😯Personally Trees I think that really shouldn't be an issue, 90-120 minutes is a reasonable amount of time to do a job voluntary or not without the need for a drink or the loo. If they can't wait for a pee then a quick dash in between races cab surely happen. If it's that cold then take a flask. The interval is purely to make money in the bars and food outlets and doesn't consider customers. Perhaps they can also check on the condition of the showers whilst there at it! Edited April 5, 2015 by Custom House Kid
