SCB
Apparently they take a picture when you arrive and I know 5 people who have been fined,so yes they do fine drivers at night. So much land by the track that could of been used for parking They can't fine you. They can only invoice you. You can choose to ignore that invoice and see if they'd like to take you to court. They won't take you to court those as it's trespass and to prove trespass they have to prove a financial loss and that'll be impossible in a car park that is 90% empty by the time the speedway is over! speedflash
I was looking at an old tape of a meeting at Reading from the 60's. The tractor was out after heats 3,6,9,12 and then during the second half. So we have got better. Then the bikes moved little dirt now they move about 20ton of shale per meeting to the out side. The tracks are graded for safety and for better racing. If we didn't grade you would be saying that the track is badly prepared and more riders would be injured. Gemini
.....speedflash.....The tracks are graded for safety and for better racing....... It didn't seem to work at Peterborough last night. Just seemed like a complete waste of time as it was still like a wet ploughed field round the outside, although admittedly I was overlooking the 3rd/4th bend so don't know what 1st/2nd was like but probably the same. The tractor did two laps after heats 2, 4, 6 and 7 but after that I stopped counting as Ipswich had obviously given up and weren't interested anyway apart from Danny King and Cameron Heeps who got stuck in. Glyn The problem could be lack of communication then!!....an occasional reminder/explanation from the "roving presenter" can't be too onerous a task, including for the benefit of people who are first-timers. Or isn't that allowed?
TesarRacing
That is not a fair post, I know the work that was put in on Saturday, just to give the meeting a chance!! Grading is required, in the so called "golden Age" of Speedway, the tractor was out after every race!!!! Who would be a promoter, a track curator, a sponsor or anything to do with speedway management? You just can't win - supporters complain making stupid comments about the track time of tractors/graders v the bikes and then complain also if the track doesn't produce good racing. Some people have rose tinted specs on permanently remembering the 'good old days' as something they never were.

Without wanting to put words into BIg Al's or the roving mic's mouth i think he was hinting something along the lines of 'Our tractor driver and would be alchemist Mr Taylor is currently making a vain attempt to polish a turd / turn water into wine etc etc etc in an effort to make your hard earned entrance fee seem a little more value for money. Unfortunately as this has a downside in time between races feel free to go and have a craic with someone of your fellow fans, or maybe head along to the pit area to hear our beloved leader instill the dunkirk spirit into his riders. Please be aware though, should you spend this time laughing at the beloved leader for designing the speedway track as he has, you're only laughing at yourself as it's his track and it's your money you've given him to be be there watching this weekly spectactle unfold. But as we tell you each week, be aware that if you don't continue to turn up we might lose it altogther, the crappest speedway being better than no speedway at all, don't you agree' or something like that.

mrlincolncity
Yea, they are all stuck in the past i think, it needs new people in to shake it up. Surely they realise people are not happy watching nothing for more than 2 hours??? Its crazy! Its such madness to think 2n half hours to run an event of 16 minutes essentially is NOT acceptable at any level! Not even for free! If it was me id want it rolling, 7.30 is start time, that to me means at 7.30 we have the 2 minute siren on, on the dot. By 7.50 wev had 4 races. 8.15 wev had 8 by 8.50 wev had 12 AND an interval. 9.15 we are done and thats very generous with times. Thats how it needs to be. Hanging it out is what i call at work "takin the p**s"
Happy Hunter
I think if you see a tractor going round it's obvious there is a 'tractor going round' do we really need it spelling out to us ? It would be nice to know why its going round! Us old stagers know that if the tractor comes out unexpectedly its usually because the riders have asked for the track to be graded but new comers don't know that's why. It really is all about communication and not guess work!
mrlincolncity
It shouldnt be like that, its crazy, its the only sport i know where the participants have a bigger say than the ref! Its a track, if the ref decides its off its off, if its on its on, those who refuse cos its not to their liking are banned or fined, its bloody ridiculous! It gets a grade every 4 races unless the REFEREE decides
weatherwatcher
Sorry but it isn't the ref who has to ride the bikes around the track. It is up to the riders of both teams to ask for the track to be graded to make sure that it is safe to race on.
Gemini
Perhaps to make it a bit more interesting an announcement could be made as to exactly which riders want extra track grading. If it's one or more of the visiting riders fans could pass the time away having a good 'Boo' or shouts of 'Get on with it'. On the other hand if it's Jason Doyle we can have a moan about 'Whingeing Aussies' again.
SCB
A great Bees performance from 1-7. I'd like to retract this statement. I have never ridden in a speedway meeting so I have no idea what a rider has to do. It would be unfair of me to comment on their performance. If riders are going to bitch on twitter about fans negative comments and want them to stop they should expect the praise and positive comments to stop too.
