SCB
TBF to Gemini, it did take a long time to start the meeting - the minutes applause didn't happen until nearly 7.35 and then the parade took another 5 minutes. So we had an advertised 7.30 start time but it was probably nearer 7.50 before we had the first race. there were then quite long gaps between the first 4 heats (yet they stuck the two minutes on for heat 5 quickly as my niece needed the toilet and I'd told we'd go after heat 4, we'd not even moved and the 2 minutes was on!) But 7.50 for the first race with an advertised 7.30 start time. Seriously?!
speedflash
Start time was delayed due to the crowd still lined up out side. Seriously!

Gemini
Hi, Gemini you would have the forum believe that the tractor was out every other race. The fact is I went out after heat two other than that it was the same as every other track. After heats 4,7 interval and 14 for about 5 mins each time. As you know we have had heavy rain for the last few days and the track was soft in places so at the request of both Teams they asked me to do a few laps after heat two just to move any heavy soft dirt to the outside which I did. The Interval grade is a bit longer as the track staff and have 10 mins so I use that time to make the track the best I can in that time. Hope you enjoyed the night. Glyn Yes you're right. How do you know? The match seemed to take a while to get started, probably due to the queues outside so that's understandable but then the first few races dragged on a bit with grading after heats 2, 4 and 7. (You've explained the heat 2 grade though so fair enough.) I think it was after the third session of grading when the couple next to me went home as she was too cold, but she was in a wheelchair so it was probably cold sitting in that. Yes I did enjoy the night thank you, so much so that I'm getting my enthusiasm back as I thought there was some good racing. Now my friend the sat nav has sorted out a straight forward route to Beaumont Park rather than the roundabout way I've always gone with my husband I'll be there more often. SCB
Start time was delayed due to the crowd still lined up out side. Seriously! This winds me. I got there on time despite a 2 hour + 140 mile journey. If people can't get there on time start without them. They'll get there on time next time. Basically the mugs who got their early had to wait around because some people couldn't get there on time.
Steve Irving
Popped along to this as a neutral and to be honest I've seen far worse meetings!I thought Cameron Heeps looked a real talent, certainly an EL rider in the not too distant future IMO.Would have had even more points to show for his efforts in heat 8, but Garrity did him no favours whatsoever.

New Science
Awful speedway from start to finish, its all true what iv read, its one of if not THE worst track in the country! no chance whatsoever of a decent race due to the poor preparation and tight turns. It was rubbish tonight, first time iv been in over 2 seasons, and il not be rushing back to see who can get to the bend first, oh and just to put it straight, I was on the start of the 1st bend, Andersen clearly forced and knocked Doyle off, left him no room at all, typical of Andersen though. As you can see from comments on this topic, when your team wins away the quality of the speedway comes a massive 2nd .OK if you're a die-hard who will watch anything week in week out but the reason why crowds have left our sport, the product is not good enough often enough.
robert72
its also a shame for the second half kids as nearly everyone has left by time they get there chance because of the time it takes from the end of heat

In my case the fact Coventry won away, although a very nice surprise, didn't really have a great deal to do with whether I enjoyed the meeting or not. I've been to Leicester many times and thought the racing was much better than a lot of the matches I've seen there before, yet a neutral fan is saying it was rubbish so it just proves how supporters see things differently. Hanging around in the cold waiting for the match to start and too much track preparation is what bugs me but perhaps doesn't bother others if they're in a group with someone to talk to. its also a shame for the second half kids as nearly everyone has left by time they get there chance because of the time it takes from the end of heat 15. I usually like to watch the youngsters at Coventry but didn't stay behind here because I was wondering if I'd get a parking ticket for exceeding 4 hours in the shopping centre car park. Do they enforce it late at night or don't bother?

Perhaps 2016 will be in the EL - with the Witches.

This all boils down to a continued lack of communication between the promotion & crowd. Why did the match presenter not mention why the start was delayed and why the tractor went out after heat 2? Most fans would have understood. There was only one delay due to a crash but the meeting took 2 hours to complete (from a 7.45 p.m. start). If you allow 5 minutes per race and 15 minutes for an interval that gives a meeting time of 90 minutes add another 15 for crashes and that means a meeting started at 7.30 p.m. should be over by 9.15 p.m. How many times has that happened at Beaumont Park since 2011? I don’t think any Lions fans will find anything positive to say about this result. Doyle did well to get up from the deck and win heat 13 but he will know that 10 points from 5 rides by a number 1 at home is not good enough. Schlein probably scored more points than Michelsen so the score might have been worse if the latter had ridden. Walasek is o.k. when he makes the gate so 8 at home was probably about what we can expect from him. Woznak was right off the pace. Pedersen did not show up. He has won 2 EL races now, 1 home and 1 away and has not scored in his other rides. Sorry – not good enough. Auty does all that is expected of him and a good job too when you look at Lambert’s performance. He was just like he was when he rode for the Lions in the Premier League – reasonable gate and then picked off on bend 3 or 4. Cannot understand for the life of me why they signed him. On this performance I cannot see anything but a basement battle again. Edited April 6, 2015 by Happy Hunter
Gemini
......Happy Hunter.....This all boils down to a continued lack of communication between the promotion & crowd. Why did the match presenter not mention why the start was delayed and why the tractor went out after heat 2? Most fans would have understood. I'm not sure if it was mentioned or not exactly why the start was being delayed as I just presumed fans were still waiting to get in and that was the reason but you're right on your other point about the grading. Just a simple announcement to say the riders have requested an extra track grade is all that's needed, rather than the tractor coming out for a few more laps when the match has only just started. They should be promoting it as a tractor showcase with bikes coming around in between to rough the surface up again so we can all see how good a job the tractor does... a different tractor each week perhaps? It may just get the farmers through the turnstiles...

Here's hoping that one day they let Glyn alter the shape. Surely it's worth a go....

Grading is required, in the so called "golden Age" of Speedway, the tractor was out after every race!!!!

There is So much land by the track that could of been used for parking Edited April 6, 2015 by robert72
