Polish Promotion/relegation Sunday 4th October

Recommended Posts

Considering the aggregate result was never really in any doubt, Wroclaw can hold their heads up high for a battling performance in a meeting that produced some fine racing. Congratulations to Leszno and on to 2016.

Take care all. Alan.

To no small affair came after Sunday's match in Ostrow Wielkopolski. After the end of the competition the coach Marek Cieslak was tested breathalyzer, which showed the presence of alcohol in his blood.

There have been many suggestions that the study was conducted on behalf of the club Ostrow, who issued a statement on the matter:

Speedway Sports Club Ostrovia regrets that the situation during the competition DM AND League - Final Round overshadowed sport fighting and amazing spectacle.

We want to stress that the Management ZKS Ostrovia was not the initiator of calling the police and to carry out a breath test coach Mark Cieslak. This action was taken because of the voices of fans and people staying in the paddock during the competition. It was not so groundless.

Please refrain from negative comments. Further information present in the coming days.

Both legs of the Ostrow v Rzeszow Extraleague promotion/relegation clash are scheduled to be on TV

1st leg at Ostrow Sunday 4th October programme starts 6pm uk time with 1st race 6.30pm-TBC

2nd leg following Sunday 11th in Rzeszow

Match at Ostrow this Sunday is a 2pm uk time start- not sure at this stage how that effects the TV coverage- still showing on schedule as live in the evening.

2nd leg in Rzeszow on Sunday 11th October starts at 3pm uk time

I think it`s bad news- it looks as if these matches will not be on TV. this could change but it`s not looking good at the moment.

This is what puzzles me...If Daugavpils "can't" be promoted, and Grudziadz are definitely relegated, why are Ostrow competing with Rzeszow for the rights to be in the Ekstraliga next year? Surely the Ekstaliga won't reduce to just 7 teams, so will Ostrow get promoted whether or not they beat Rzeszow as a second choice candidate after Daugavpils? As things stand after the first leg, so what if they did? BUT theoretically, supposing that they do beat Rzeszow on aggregate, they can only get promoted once but they effectively relegate a second team....then what happens?
