The White Knight
Have to say my first thought on reading this thread was that Gustix had decided he needed to out do star man's efforts on the Jerran hart thread, and by jove he may have managed it. Hurrah! Shame for Dave allan that no one seems to have answers as Dave is one of the most helpful blokes on here. Wish I could have helped Dave, but like others can't find anything (of relevance). I totally endorse that comment whka1. Dave always seems to be helping folk with information. I am glad you mentioned him in that way. :approve:
waiheke1
Oldace - as a belle Vue fan I was hoping you could clear a couple of things up for me. do you know the surname of the rider called declan who I now understand was sponsored by the Eccles tourism board? And were Peter and Louis actually cars? I might need to revisit my old programmea as this thread has raised a lot of queries. was John Titman a real name, a description of John or some kind of sponsorship deal?

waiheke1
A not very amusing reference to an Australian rider who put far more into speedway than, as I see it, you have. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Titman Stefan Kuntz put more into football than I did but....anyway, you started it

iris123
One of the first riders to be sponsored was that guy who rode for the Crusty Pye bakery up north

iris123
Was wondering, due to the passage of time anything new had been found about Mason? What is he doing now and did he laugh when somebody confused him with a sponsor? If nothing else, the thread deserves another look

iris123
Good spot.Could this then be the father (who ran the mx shop)? And his son was the person who was sought in the title,I wonder? Mason Weir instead of Wear. Now that might have stopped all the confusion!! By the way,is there any evidence a sponsor has been listed in a Programme rather than a rider? Going a bit further, the name is spelt differently, as Mayson in that pdf - If you google Mayson Weir, you find a cumbrian sheep farmer, with a little video on youtube where he tells of moving to Herefordshire in his youth for a few years before he went back home to minding his sheep in the lake district. The age of the bloke looks about right i'd say. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HeP7PMarqXQHer

So if the father had the same name as the son, and the father sponsored the son, does that mean Gustix was right?
