Support Adam Roynon

Recommended Posts

The White night- in reply to your question. I've spoke to him, he has no intention of retiring, so the money would go to good use and not be a waste of time

Look people, I didn't start this post for loads of negativity or stick. I simply wanted to help a good friend, who's had his fair share of problems. If you don't want to donate- don't! If you would rather donate to other causes like Ricky Ashworth & SRBF- do it. But please don't mock me for trying to help someone. Agree with it or not. I'm just trying to help!

And in regards to the price, I just went on what I was told by Adam himself and this price was confirmed by several other riders. Maliniak cost £950 + postage. If you're unsure on this, contact them yourselves as I did and had it confirmed. Either way the £1000 was just a target, didn't mean it had to be raised, it was just a benchmark. He's more than happy to have any help towards them, doesn't mean we're begging or asking for the full amount. I dropped the figure to £600 purely because of the amount of negativity regarding the amount. Like I said, it didn't have to be achieved, that was just the price I was given. If we raised £1 or £1000 it all helps.

shawn surely you have mates that need a few quid more than Adam?... Goodluck in you're efforts all the same.

Riders should Not be allowed or to be part of any begging to fans, if they want anything then go and get sponsors or pack it in.

When a fan gives money to a rider they effectively become a sponsor.. so its the same thing.

You have a choice, donate if you wish, or not as the case maybe with yourself.

Matters not how big you make your font.

Maybe someone could start a collection fund to buy him some

Maybe we should ask Starman when he thinks such a fund will be set up?

Cant understand all the negativity especially when it concerns Adam Roynon.

Well done Shawn in your efforts. Amazing given how everyone seems to suck up to an American World Champion who like Penhall turned his back on British Speedway when it needed him most and yet feel the need to take a pop at your efforts to support a young British rider down on his luck once again. Beggars belief.

Who is this? "... to suck up to an American World Champion"

No wonder this forum is so disliked by most of the riders and promoters, there are some seriously nasty pieces of work on here. Nobody is trying to make anybody do anything, I'll put it in big letters as that seems to be the preferred method

Contribute if you want to, if you don't that's fine but it won't involve you in any way so you don't need to comment.

No one suggested different. Entirely the individuals choice. This is however a discussion forum and as far as I can see people have been discussing the merits or otherwise of such collections.

Maybe you should get yourself made a moderator and you can delete discussions not to your liking, or simply take your own advice re the discussion

Contribute if you want to, if you don't that's fine

I asked a genuine question early in the Thread. I was very kindly answered. No need for further comment.

This is all getting a bit over the top, isn't it? I can't see what is wrong with someone helping a rider raise some funds particularly after a bad crash. Comparing it with repairing a car or a self employed workman needing tools is rather bizarre.

This is speedway - it's what we do; help a rider in need - but if you don't feel it is appropriate - don't

I don't know the ins and out of his contract. That's his business. All I know is it is his responsibility to replace them, and he now faces the bill

Not getting at Adam Roynon here, but is it in any way normal business practice that a rider is required to wear kevlars supplied by his team, yet is now having to replace them out of his own pocket?

Adam should, once he is 100% fit and checked out as ready to return, wear any old suit, and let the club which demands he wears their colours supply the replacement Peterborough outfit. After all, it was the club's paramedic people who cut them off!

Probably Greg Hancock?

Jack Milne I think

Why pick on Bruce Penhall, who virtually retired from speedway more than 30 years ago after his 1981 and 1982 world title successes. He quit speedway with good reason in my opinion - to follow good offers to pursue a new career in films and TV. As I see it he was justified to make that decision when at the top of his career.

Two names in regard to his fellow Americans - Jack Milne only left England in September 1939 when World War Two started to return to the then neutral USA and because organised league-type speedway was curtailed for the war years.

The other name suggested is Greg Hancock. That may be debatable - I have no views on that.

But I would add that if we are talking about world champions who have walked out on British speedway, we only have to consider "the face of British speedway" former world champion Tai Woffinden who has quit UK speedway to challenge for GP glory again and to concentrate on racing in European leagues,

I'm sorry - I can't agree with that statement. He has quit British Speedway in order to improve his chance of once again winning the World Championship. I, for one, don't blame him.

British Speedway is a bit 'Mickey Mouse' these days anyway.

Aren't his actual regular sponsors interested in helping him out ? Seems strange that one week into the season, and already the begging bowl is going out.

Whether the op is a well intentioned fan, or just someone trying to score brownie points with his favourite rider, it's doesn't sit well with me.

Hate this kind of post ...first of all no one cares about what riders and promoters think of this forum as it's for the fans not for them .

The second point is why have you made a comment ? after all all you need to do is contribute or not just like everyyone else. Of course no one is forcing anyone to do anything but I don't it's unfair that people have a chat on a forum about if a rider should ask people to help to pay for his own kit .not that I see a problem in it myself .

Surely BSF members Posts are made to reach a wide audience - what's the point of making a comment about a club, team, track, rider etc if they are not meant to be noted by those being debated? :icon_smile_clown:

I wonder if the supporters of the track where "the face of British speedway" Tai Woffinden rode in 2014 agree they don't mind not having him in their team this season as he prefers personal glory to riding for a British team?

EDIT: Why did "the face of British speedway" Tai Woffinden not stay with a track in Britain and not opt to miss riding for a Swedish or Polish track"?
