DSC67
Hello. A gofundme page has been set up in support of Adam Roynon to help fund a replacement race suite for him, after his brand new set were destroyed in his horror crash over the weekend. Under the new regs they now cost in the region of £1000 a pair!! And as I'm sure you could all imagine, this is the last thing any rider needs to worry about as an extra cost when preparing for the start of the season. Any donations would be greatly appreciated and go a long way. Thanks. https://www.gofundme.com/ozmi2o Doesn't his insurance cover the cost ? Lord Skid
Can't think of many Riders who would sign a contract which included replacing Team suit, a bit gullable there, some of the poor guys won't make a grand profit for the whole season. S_Smith92
The White night- in reply to your question. I've spoke to him, he has no intention of retiring, so the money would go to good use and not be a waste of time Look people, I didn't start this post for loads of negativity or stick. I simply wanted to help a good friend, who's had his fair share of problems. If you don't want to donate- don't! If you would rather donate to other causes like Ricky Ashworth & SRBF- do it. But please don't mock me for trying to help someone. Agree with it or not. I'm just trying to help! And in regards to the price, I just went on what I was told by Adam himself and this price was confirmed by several other riders. Maliniak cost £950 + postage. If you're unsure on this, contact them yourselves as I did and had it confirmed. Either way the £1000 was just a target, didn't mean it had to be raised, it was just a benchmark. He's more than happy to have any help towards them, doesn't mean we're begging or asking for the full amount. I dropped the figure to £600 purely because of the amount of negativity regarding the amount. Like I said, it didn't have to be achieved, that was just the price I was given. If we raised £1 or £1000 it all helps.
Sings4Speedway
Don't get too excited Shawn. Whatever the subject there will be a difference of opinion and you are fully entitled to yours as I am mine and its certainly not meant personally against either you or Adam. I also concede on the cost of Maliniak kevlars if they are £950 + postage then I believe you although I still consider them over priced compared to other available suppliers but again just a matter of opinion.... tonyd
My thoughts are that Adam should sit down and have a chat with himself about if he should carry on racing speedway. Dont get me wrong I have nothing but admiration for Adam (or any other rider) but with the amount of accidents the poor sod has had its a wonder just how much more can his body take? This week there are two big meetings one for Ricky Ashworth and one for the late great Billy Sanders (ok life not lost on the track) and we have just had the BEN Fund meeting, I WOULD HATE TO SEE / WE DONT NEED or WANT another meeting added to the calander in seasons to come for any more riders. This post might upset a few people and we all know speedway riders are a special / strange breed of people but these are my personal thoughts and I know myself that watching Adam race nowdays I wonder and sort of worry everytime he comes off or clashes with another rider (part and parcel of racing) if all is going to be ok now-a-days. Odds On
lets try and get this sum up and above the £1000 mark.....would be great for Adam to have new kevlars and maybe some new equipment or a little extra money to help with the season. robert72
Looks like the target has been dropped to £600 now anyway instead of £1,000. I'll donate the same amount I gave to the Chris Harris G.P. fund last season - zilch. If people want to then fair enough but any spare money I have always goes to abused, half dead dogs where I can follow their photos and videos and feel happy I have helped a bit with their progress back to good health. Edited now I have seen Robert's post. To be fair it is not Adam who is doing this and it wasn't Ryan Fisher either. Just supporters starting the fund and wanting to help. This seems Not to be the case. from OP I just went on what I was told by Adam himself and this price was confirmed by several other riders. Maliniak cost £950 + postage. If you dont like it dont contribute but stop whinging about it
Hobnob Smith
For crying out loud someone tries to help a british rider out and all the negativity starts , if you want to contribute give some if you don't just leave the poor guy alone, No wonder young british talent stuggles to come throu people try to help and get slagged off for it get behind the brits and help them, and before anyone says anything I hope loads is raised for the unfortunate Ricky Ashworth and a lot of the riders should look at themselves for not helping the Ben Fund meeting it started of with lots of star names to pull the crowd in and now it seems to be a burden to have to do.

Sounds tough but how many self employed people do you know struggling that would beg customers for money by pleading poverty about needing new tools to do there jobs ? I have no problem giving to the Ben fund and will support Ricky ashworth but that's it. Edited March 19, 2015 by robert72

S_Smith92
Adam roynon is no way begging for help or asking for help. He can afford them, I'm just trying to help a friend who has had more than a bough problems. You tell m as a racer if someone offered you help you wouldn't take it. Sings4Kings- I agree, everyone can have an opinion. I just don't appreciate the negativity I've had for trying to do something good. If people don't like it, they don't have to donate, it's optional, no need for bad comments. In regards to other suppliers potentially being cheaper, that has nothing to do with me, maybe Adam or peterborough have a deal or agreement to have suits done through them, maybe it's Adams preferable choice for maximum protection. Who knows. I'm just trying to help the lad Thanks oddson, but any figure is great. Be it the current £150 or £1000, it all helps. Thanks PhilipSR- spot on! No one is forcing anyone to donate, just simply putting it out there that the option is available if anyone wanted to. And thanks Hobknob Smith. Appreciate the comments. In regards to comments about Adam continuing to race, you're all allowed your opinion, but at the end of the day, non of us have the right to decide if he should it shouldn't. If the guy wants to race, even with previous history, fair play to him. Got bigger courage than most of us, some may say stupid, but hey, he sill risks his life to entertain us and do something he loves. Hats off to the lad 👊 Edited March 19, 2015 by Shawn Smith

TheScotsman
Well all the negativity towards Adam has just prompted me to put a tenner into his fund. So there! And if anyone wants to say it should have gone elsewhere, I have just bought a ticket for Rico's meeting too! Ricky 's collection is on Sunday at the showground.

He has good sponsors and works harder than anyone to promote the sport and help youngsters etc.
Arson fire
Each to their own and if people want to donate they will. I personally would much rather set up or donate to a homeless poverty stricken war veteran than a mate who needs some new overalls for work.
