Why Bomber...

Recommended Posts

..and another 'let's criticise Chris Harris thread!'

Why are people always saying, "oh he should drop out of the gp, he's not good enough."

He qualified and he wants to ride in it, so it's nothing to do with anybody else.

Alright he probably wont do much and deep down he must know he'll never be world champion but, like Andy Smith before him he just wants the prestige of riding in the sports premier event and good luck to him.

Like Andy he probably loses money but that's his business.

At least he wants to ride in it unlike a certain Russian!

I honestly didn't want this to become a thread slagging off bomber. I'm a fan of his, I've admired his determination and courage over the years. The '07 Cardiff GP and '10 playoffs were up there with some of the greatest moments ever seen in Speedway for me, even as a neutral.

However that was a long time ago & he has been woefully underprepared for many seasons now, in a GP series which is becoming increasingly competitive. Now he's saying he's hardly trained and he sat on a bike for first time last week, it's not good enough. So when we see yet another interview after a few GPs saying he's been struggling but finally thinks he's cracked it, I'll just shake my head and think what a shame

(BTW, I hope he proves me wrong)

I used to really like him but for too long his GP performances are just an embarrassment.

Whether he was top British rider pre-Tai is nether here nor there.

Finger out time Bomber, you are well past 30 now, you don't look fit and your bikes dont look competitive. As I hear you are far from cheap to employ - why?

1. Since when did being good be important when deciding if you liked a rider? :D I've liked many riders who were never going even get a sniff of a GP place.

2. He's 32 - if thats well past 30, and 30 is considered over the hill then I'm off to find a rope!

3. If he's not cheap then he's doing something right as he's never been unemployed in British Speedway has he? Make hay while the sun shines and all that.

Yawn. Here we go again. If a single one of you Harris Haters can do any better, put your money where your mouth is and get on with it. Put up or shut up. Just get over yourselves.

Other riders had the chance to out qualify him and either couldn't be bothered, like the Russians, or weren't good enough.

If you don't like the fact that he in the GP series, don't watch-simple.

AFAIK nobody on this thread claims to be a professional speedway rider so why should they do better? I hate this argument.

Do you? And? The point is, you slate people who do their best and try their hardest. You know F*** all about what he does off track and what may have gone on in his personal life so until you know the facts keep your counsel.

I can't stand Nicki Pedersen, but I won't criticise the way he conducts himself because I respect him as a sportsman and what he puts in. Perhaps you should try it.

And, BTW, I hate the argument that he should stop competing at this level. On whose authority? Yours? Sh** the bed, what a laugh.

Why don't you wind your neck in. I have not criticized him. Look back, I have defending him and his right to be in the GP but I have not used pathetic reasons like, "could you do better". I've never murdered anyone but I'll still condemn them. I've never designed a car but I know a BMW 1 series is better than a Kia Picanto. The argument of "could you do better" is a crap one.

On your way pal. I'm many things, pathetic isn't one. It's a valid point. Until someone can do better, don't judge.

They must see you coming then Dave.Using your argument any time you buy something dodgy you just stick with it because you can't make a better pair of trousers or a better tv or tarmac your drive or plaster your ceiling better than Mr Cowboy

Anyway, the thread had died away until you decided to put new life into it.No idea why

Not the same thing at all Iris and you know it. The point I make is vote with your feet. If you don't like Harris in the GP don't watch it. But don't slate someone when you don't have all the facts or you aren't preparwd to do something about it. If there was someone in the GP that I thought shouldn't be there I would say so and wouldn't watch. But the truth is I respect all riders, so wouldn't put myself there. There are riders I don't like, past and present but would never question their right to compete, particularly when they have earned the right to do so.

If you aren't prepared to do something about something you don't agree with, you can't criticise. It's like moaning about the government but then not voting in the election.

You are judging though. You're saying he should be there. Take your own advice. If you can't do better, don't comment.

Absolutely rubbish argument and change of tack Dave.Of course it is the same thing or does it only go for speedway the argument if you can't do better don't criticise? And does that mean because one or two riders on here that comment couldn't do better they can only criticise riders who were worse than them?Crazy stuff.No-one can criticise Darcy Ward for attempting to ride under the influence or Antonio Lindbäck for serial drink driving because we haven't been under the pressure he has as an international speedway rider?Go back to the drawing board and think up a better argument, then come back and start the thread up again, because everyone had forgotten about Harris for a few weeks until you tried to stir things up again

Yes Rob, but over and over? Why?

But read the whole thread. It was actually started by a Bomber fan, not questioning why he should be in the GP series, but questioning why he hadn't prepared a bit better for this year's GP series.

One or two people said he shouldn't even be in the series, but quite a few of us disagreed with that. They are entitled to their opinion, just as you and I are entitled to ours.

The thread was dead, but then you've come on here today, shouting the odds (ironically directing your wrath in the direction of one of the Bomber defenders), and stirring it all up again!

All the best

Rob
