Race Suit Regulations

Recommended Posts

It looks like this has changed / been missed from the 2015 regulations that the Racesuits have to be predominantly black on the legs

The only image I've seen this being tested is NKI's new suit at King's Lynn's Press & Practice where he's gone predominantly blue

I thought that has always been the case in the British Elite League, requested by Sky I believe?

Don't forget Sky don't 'sponsor' the league any more, just televise - so maybe their opinion isn't taken the same!!

I thought the new 2015 racesuit regs were more about being of a specific standard of material in order to give more protection to riders, rather than stipulations about colours.

Black bottoms was about guests and other new riders just putting on a shirt or similar on top of their own race suit and looking like the rest of the team. It actually never worked, so if it's forgotten, then good.

On the other hand with the new rules on fabrics in suits, the designs and stuff are going to a more boring and less bling sort of way. Dont like that.

The FIM regulations have always stated, no advertising below the knee on a race suit, but like everything else it gets ignored

The FIM don't pay the riders points money nor sponsorship for the riders to buy equipment, so imo the riders can have sponsors where they like. To many bigwigs fatcats and H/S merchants poking their noses in where they are not wanted nowadays.

I think the whole race suit should represent the club, not just to the waist, otherwise you may as well just have team race bibs like the old days.

Really? I read the book once a year atleast for the past decade, must have skipped a page or two...

When you see riders in their practice sessions it is clear that the black legs has been removed from the regulations and it looks better. You wouldn't expect all Premier League football teams to wear the same colour shorts and socks.

Having said that I really like the Wolves suit that is virtually all black,

Iversen's kevlars need to be changed, as Trees said, it was a mistake by manufacturer

That may be the case but what I was getting at really was that there's nothing in the 2015 regulations that says the legs part of the reacesuits have to be black

Legs have to be black?!? Pathetic rule.

And as banning gopro's? Ridiculous. You get great footage from them. Surely the riders can choose whether or not they want to use them? As long as the choice is the riders then I cannot see the problem. And yes I know the risk of attaching a protruding camera to a crash helmet.

Put a helmet on and go and bang your head on a brick wall. Now do the same but rather than on a brick wall use a spike. See how effective the helmet is now! the go-pro is in effect that spike. anything that exerts the pressure on a smaller area is going to be a danger. It makes sense to ban them from a safety POV, it's nothing to being kill joys stopping coverage or even them being caught.
