dontforgetthefueltapsbruv
As I recall, Luke Bowen crossed the line in second place, but Babs announced him as third and awarded Ipswich a 5-1 after Kasper Lykke fell on the last bend. We assumed she'd stopped the race at the moment Lykke fell, which would've been a 5-1 to Ipswich, but apparently she hadn't. Communication problems between the refs box and the pits/start marshall was blamed, but as she was sitting next to the track announcer I find that very difficult to believe. On the plus side, I heard reports that the Rye House fish has improved greatly. so presumably the red lights didnt come on?If so the right decision seems to have been made - in the end. As Wembleylion stated though I thought a race result couldnt be amended after it has been officially announced.

I had already put a 4-2 in the programme, so was surprised when a 5-1 was announced. As it was the final bend of the race there was no need to award it, unless Kasper falling impeded another rider, but I'm not sure he did Edited March 22, 2015 by Shads
Fromafar
That Rye House team is not as bad as some fans are making out IMO .If Mellgren and Boxall ride to their capabilities.
dontforgetthefueltapsbruv
So there are a few possiblescenarios 1- Babs put on the lights and awarded a 5-1 as per per positions at the fall but changed/was persuaded to change he mind 2 heats later. 2 - Babs didnt put on the lights but felt riders were impeded and so awarded at time of fall but changed/was persuaded to change 2 heats later. 3 - Babs didnt put the lights on and let the race finish as there was no impediment but failed to be able to tell the difference between riders from opposite teams and called the wrong result. She then changed/was persuaded to change 2 heats later. Whichever it doesnt look good on her. I dont buy the communication issue. Surely she has to ratify the official programme entry before continuing with the meeting. Again if this has not been correctly followed it doesnt look good on her. Paul
No red lights came on. Lykke fell due to Nielsens bike failing. How on earth Barbara Horley can blame communication problems is totally beyond me. The referee declares the result and the announcer then announces the official result. Does the referee now have to ask the pits for the result? Of course not! Nope it wasn't anyone's fault last night. How silly of me to blame the referee. It was the computers fault..... Quote from Rye's team manager "The communication was down between the pits and the referee and then the referee's computer wasn't working correctly so that led to a few problems and it was a bit chaotic at the start." So it was the computer that declared the heat 2 result. Smacking myself now Basil Faulty style now.....

Rayleigh
More than happy with the Rockets performance last night, Just compare Aspegren, Jakobson and Kasper for Garrity, Bunyan and Tres (forget all the off track baggage) and the team is much stronger. But perhaps the best thing that happened was after a "can only happen in speedway" long gap before the rerun of the 5-0 race, Warren Scott (new owner) appeared in front of the referees box to demand that they "get on" with the meeting, does speedway finally have a promoter who considers the shivering fans. WELCOME WARREN.

westhamboy66
Standing midway down the back straight i can say Nielsen's bike was missing and he was barely under power when Lykke hit him. by that time Bowen had got into third. I thought Nielsen should have been excluded but either way it was a four two or three all, the last thing it could have been was five one which was the result she chose, that was bad enough but to change her mind later was just as bad. Weak poor ref who seems hell bent on spoiling every meeting she goes near. That apart a fair result at one point i thought we would struggle to get the win. Encouraging performances from the two new boys, disappointment from Eddie and slightly worried about Anders, though when he gated he looked a different rider far too early to tell how our season will go but Ipswich will be right up there no doubt
