Best Pairs Cup

Recommended Posts

For the record: this is what One Sport send the press today:

"There is still some dust after the inaugural tournament of Speedway Best Pairs Cup in Toruń and the riders have to prepare for the second round, which takes place on the 11th April in German Güstrow. We have already known the official starting list of the tournament.

There will be very interesting fight in the first round – the winners of the first round in Toruń, Danes will meet with last year winners, Australians. What is more the hosts, who will ride with the wild card, will present themselves in the first heat. Russians will be their opponents.

There were Russian riders who changed their numbers in comparison to the first tournament in Toruń. This time Grigorij Laguta will be leading the pair and European Champion 2014, Emil Sajfutdinow will start with number two.

There won't be Jason Doyle in Gustrow because he will be starting in the match of British league this day. He will be replace by Troy Batchelor in the main squad and the reserve will be Dakota North."

Great to see Doyle showing commitment to British speedway and putting Leicester first.

I take it Holder & North will both be riding for Poole and Batchelor for Swindon the night before? Only ask as North missed the Poole meeting last time he was meant to be a reserve.

North probably wouldn't have missed it if was a league match.

Could be another Poole Select at Coventry then?? Possibility (but only a possibility) of no Holder, North, Gracjonek, Starke........??

and as for Lakeside v Swindon - possibly no Batchelor, Jonsson, Bech??

Jonsson & Bech still rode forcLakesidd the night before the last pairs meeting so imagine they will ride for Lakeside

It all depends on the timing of flights, when the practice is and how keen riders are to do the practice. Holder initially wanted more practice laps on his Polish home track - hence not being available for the friendly at Somerset - aside from getting his 'dead wrist' the night before.
