SCB
Russia are favourites...Emil and Grigory I thought that last year. Stuck a couple hundred £££ on them only to find out both had pulled out. D'oh!
Ghostwalker
I thought that last year. Stuck a couple hundred £££ on them only to find out both had pulled out. D'oh! Grigorij suffered an injury a while before the start of last season so he missed the first rounds of best pairs. I don't know about Emil though. PolskiZuzel
Many experts say that the 2015 Speedway Best Pairs Cup round at Torun (to be held on 28th of March) is having the strongest line-up in the world. All seven speedway nations that are taking part in this competion will be represented by their best riders. The Torun round of SBP will include three world champions - Nicki Pedersen (2003, 2007, 2008), Greg Hancock (1997, 2011, 2014) and Chris Holder (2012). The Russians with the current Individual European Champion- Emil Sayfutdinov and the Laguta brothers are - in opinion of many are favourites to win. The Poles coached by Mark Cieslak will have in their line up, Krzysztof Kasprzak, 2014 world runner up and Jaroslaw Hampel - former twice world runner up champion plus Piotr Pawlicki, individual Junior World Championship A year ago Australians were the winners on the Motoarena and later went on to win the Speedway Best Pairs Cup. Unfortunately one of the world best Australians, Darcy Ward is banned till the August, so Mark Lemon their team manager decided this time to call up Chris Holder, Jason Doyle and Troy Batchelor. Compared to previous years, the formula of the competition has changed. The first rider at the finish line will receive 3 points, the second - 2, the third - 1, and the last - 0. The team’s score for each tournament remains unchanged (10,8,6,4,3,2,1). The winner will be the pair that in three tournaments will collect the highest number of points. SBPC prize pool is 900 thousand. zł. The round one of the 2015 Best Pairs Cup tournamnet at Torun looks like this: Australia: Chris Holder, Jason Doyle, Troy Batchelor Denmark: Nicki Pedersen, Niels Kristian Iversen Latvia: Andrzej Lebiediew, Kjastas Puodżuks, Maksim Bogdanow Poland: Krzysztof Kasprzak, Jarosław Hampel, Piotr Pawlicki Russia: Emil Sajfutdinow, Grigorij Łaguta, Artiom Łaguta Sweden: Andreas Jonsson, Tomas H. racers and royals
Lindbäck won't be riding, I don't know who the replacement will be. Sadly it appears his personal problems have returned. Google translation of Sportowefakty article Last Sunday, the Swede for the third time he was caught by the police while driving a car under the influence of alcohol. The survey found 1.51 per mille. Grachan
What a shame GB aren't taking part in this. I don't think we do ourselves any favours there. Alun Rossiter has publicy said he believes we should be in it, so who says we shouldn't? And why?

SteveLyric2
Alex Harkess and the management committee I would think. they have always been consistant on these One Sport and FIM EUROPE events, as they are one competition too many for the smooth running of league speedway in GB. Originally the BSPA decision not to support was to 'protect' the EL Saturday tracks - especially as the Pairs dates were never announced until after the respective League fixtures. As it now primarily only affects Leicester - who will have Doyle representing the Aussies anyway - I can't now see what their issue is other than we haven't got a decent pair to compete with the other countries. RPNY
As the Russians don't want to ride for the Russian federation, I'm surprised they are in this. Isn't one of the Laguta's" Latvian" now anyway?

Isn't one of the Laguta's" Latvian" now anyway? This isn't "official" is it? And no,neither are Latvian.Grigori tried and failed to gain citizenship. Not sure how hard he tried. But Latvia made it difficult for Russians to gain citizenship. They basically made all Russians in the country immigrants after they gained independence. Also brought in a law that meant only people who were in the country before the second world war had claim to any property which effectively made people homeless.Well Russian immigrants for example and brought in a language test and other obstacles to gain citizenship..... Bavarian
As the Russians don't want to ride for the Russian federation, I'm surprised they are in this. Isn't one of the Laguta's" Latvian" now anyway? Not so. They all WANT to ride for Russia and for the MFR (Russian Motorsports Federation), but they don't want to ride for peanuts. OneSport pays more money in the 'unofficial' SBPC, than what the riders can earn from riding in the BSI/IMG organized official SWC. Laguta only tried to get a Latvian passpart a few years ago, as it would have made it easier for him to travel across Europe. I think Emil got a Polish passport for that purpose. None of them want to give up their Russian citizenship.
Ghostwalker
As Bavarian say, a EU-country passport would mean easier travelling, such as no need for Visa applications for journeys to other EU-countries and etc. Especially for Laguta who already seems to have problems getting a visa to the UK. Anyway Sweden have named Peter Ljung as the new reserve. Edited March 20, 2015 by Ghostwalker
