More like his club-Wroclaw. it`s their 1st home match of the season tomorrow and they have probably said to their team- "we are having a practice today-you will be here"

With wages for the top riders in Poland at around £1500 per point you do as you are told.

Perhaps but what can Wroclaw do? Leaving Tai out will only hurt themselves so I think it's about time the riders organized themselves and stood up against the Polish clubs.

I agree with what you say in principle but while the Polish clubs pay the riders way more than any others they hold the trump card.

Statement just gone up, Polish teams once again ruleing the roost!!!

Just a shame it took a load of twitter abuse for a statement to come out, would of nipped it all in the bud early doors instead of a load of speculation, which got the better of me and I believed it!

Appreciate the effort from Schlein to come in at short notice and cover our backs, this guy gets my total applause, seems to want to help anyone out within British speedway. Sure he'll give it his all...

Tai has now confirmed on Twitter that it's because Poland get priority.

Surely he must have known that there would be a clash of fixtures when he agreed to ride? Or do Poland not usually have practice sessions?

They have practice sessions all the time in Poland, especially before big matches-tomorrow is important for Wroclaw as not only being their 1st home match of the season-with the best team they have had for several years- because of stadium rebuilding they are running their 7 home matches within 8 rounds of matches. So understandingly they want to get their home programme off to a good start.

Rory has been trying to ride for Us for a while now. He has raced most of his life in England. He has English children and English and Scottish heritage. He's never turned his back on British speedway (if anything most of the time it feels like he races for the whole league lol)

I hope he has a good meeting for us.

Not saying Woffy is lying but if it is true that his Polish club are stopping him from riding then how comes

GORZOW are fine with Linus Sundstrom & NKI riding.

GRUDZIADZ are fine with Artiom Laguta & Krzysztof Buczkowski riding.

LESZNO are fine with THJ, Nicki P & Piotr Pawlicki riding

RZESZOW are fine with Peter Kildemand riding

TORUN are fine with Grigorij Laguta & Chris Holder riding

ZIELONA GORA are fine with Jaroslaw Hampel riding

Good luck to Rooboy and Robert Lambert tonight. Cant wait to see Rory in GB colours as I am a big Rory fan.

So what was Cook's reason for withdrawing?? I presume a couple of paracetamol was sufficient to allow him to ride for Edinburgh last night!!

Pretty poor that he binned off EL and an international meeting but turned out in the PL. Shows a lack of ambition to improve UNLESS he really struggled last night having felt better than he did on Thursday.

Craig thought he would give it a go last night but afterwards admitted he shouldn't have as he still wasn't fit. After going to the hospital and not knowing if he was going to be able to ride at all this week he spoke to rossco about his situation and decided to pull out.

Best Pairs website-English version

The Great Final of Speedway Best Pairs Cup series in Esbjerg is closer and closer. It’s already today at 8 p. m. in Denmark the third round of SBPC will start and this is the evening when we will know the best speedway pair in the world. Below there are official lineups in which particular national teams will start in Esbjerg.

Tai Woffinden will no start in Great Final of Speedway Best Pairs Cup in Esbjerg. He will be replaced by Rory Schlein. The Briton had to start today in Esbjerg, but at the last minute changed his mind. The reasons for such a decision should be asking the rider. One Sport will not be commenting the above case. “This is far from an ideal situation, especially as I have always stated I support the idea of Great Britain competing in the event, but my hands have been completely tied.

“The majority of the riders in line for places in my World Cup squad are racing in domestic fixtures on Saturday night, which take priority, and those who aren’t simply don’t have the mechanical set-up and back-up to get to Denmark at short notice and then back for their next fixtures. The only thing I could have done would have been to put in a totally inexperienced junior, and I really don’t feel this meeting is the place to do that." - said Allun Rossiter, team manager of Great Britain.

It is worth mentioning that all the other teams will compete today in Denmark at the best available squad.

Nothing new about this in sport really, look at the number of times clubs pull players out of international football matches with slight injuries. Those who pay the wages will always pull the strings. How many times did Ryan Giggs develop a thigh strain before a Wales game? but it was okay for the next Manchester United match. Different situation, but same principles.

Mybe the BSPA should fork out 1000 quid or so to get him British Citizenship if he's been here long enough.
