squibby
Does anyone know what happened about the autobiography that Dave Morton was supposed to be bringing out ? Did it happen ? I've not seen or heard anything for ages now, after the piece in the Star about launching the book in conjunction with the new stadium at Belle Vue. Thanks. If the latter, then it'll be out next year
TonyMac
Jeez! Why do people do that . . . post a person's name in the subject line and nothing else! Always makes me fear the worst. Wouldn't 'Dave Morton book enquiry' or 'Dave Morton's book?' be a more apt thread title? The fact that TWO identically titled threads have had 64 views (and only one reply before this) says it all. Get a grip! According to the publishers who contacted us recently (no, we're not publishing it but we've given help), Mort's book will be out this coming May. OveFundinFan
Agree with tmc, just putting his name made me fear the worse. I came from the same village as the Morton and Collins family (and others who made it to the speedway tracks), just a few years older then them, and knew the families well.... so the "headline" on its own was'nt good reading for me. I am looking forward to the release of the book, would love to read his story, like I did Chris's book "Until the can ran out" referring to how they used to pool their money together to buy a can full of petrol for the old motorbikes they used to ride round a field on. Had me concerned until I opened the Thread.
squibby
My humble apologies for scaring anyone - most certainly not my intention of course. Taken on board for the future.
Guest
I have seen quite a few active references to Dave Morton on Facebook recently, but cannot recall anything being said there about his book due out ut appears later in this year. Always makes me fear the worst. the darcy ward thread must be quite some obituary! Seriously, why would you assume someone was dead just because they are the title of a thread. I don't understand that logic at all.
Sotonian
Neither do I. Maybe it's morbid curiosity?
waiheke1
Personally if I was starting a thread about someone who had died I'd entitle it "xxx RIP" or " bbb dead." But maybe I'm illogical.
Guest
Personally if I was starting a thread about someone who had died I'd entitle it "xxx RIP" or " bbb dead." But maybe I'm illogical. That would be the correct procedure IMO. When I have to make a notice in regard to a person passing away I do as you comment - their name, then RIP.
