dontforgetthefueltapsbruv
So we need Tilbury v Matousek v Wilson v Millen looks like a 0-0 - even the last one left would sort themselves out in the last re-run!
stratton
The sadly departed Jack Millen perhaps.......................What about big Arthur and the feared Steve Gresham a good rider though!
Guest
Sprouts Elder. Arguably the finest entertainer in the late 20's, this American rider earned a small fortune (way above footballers) and put bums on seats like no other. An honourable mention to George Newton of New Cross pre-war fame. Would have loved to have seen his broadsliding!
Garry1603
Bruce Penhall. Would generate badly needed publicity for the sport and was a great racer.
customhouseregular
Bruce Penhall. Would generate badly needed publicity for the sport and was a great racer. The transition from the "out of his depth" rider I saw at London White City, to the World Champion I saw at Wembley was amazing. His early retirement was a real blow to the sport...he could have been right up there with the other multi-World Champions.

Falcon Hammer
Or Rob Grant ? Haha Vaguely remember a piece about Dave Trownson telling the announcer to stop saying that Rob was a mad rider, as he was crazy enough, and the announcer was making him worse!
gee jay
strictly for selfish reasons as i moved away from speedway in the '80's it has to be kenny carter. can you imagine carter v pedersen in the g.p.'s.

The White Knight
Interesting choice WK. A great Rider to watch CHR. He had a very relaxed style, looked like he was riding an armchair at times. He was nicknamed 'The White Knight' because of his white leathers. The reason I have it as my Username on this Forum.
customhouseregular
Aah!...all becomes clear Oh Wise One. I do remember seeing him ride but, shame on me, I can't remember anything about him. You would think I'd remember the leathers though

Andy Wilko
The rider would have to be one of the best - and a showman - so Barry Briggs. However another Barry would be needed to make it a success - Barry Hearn. It's worked with other unfashionable sports - darts (BH & Phil Taylor) and snooker (BH & Ronnie O'Sullivan), oh for the coverage they get.. Some will scoff at these two sports but many more scoff at speedway at present - including many "fans" on this forum.
