Main Man
CITY GEARBOXERS Mercia-Vikings add fourth new rider to 2015 squad With three riders named for their 2015 MDL side the Coventry Mercia-Vikings have added highly rated teenager Robert Parker to their squad for the new season. The 19 year old first rode speedway in April 2014 . A Coventry fan since he was young , hailing from Northampton he had several end of season MDL appearances for Long Eaton and Castleford in 2014 . He has ridden moto-cross since the age of 10 so is an accomplished rider. He commented , “ I have had several offers to go elsewhere but when Coventry showed an interest this was ideal for me to be in their squad. I want to ride as much as I can in order to progress and I have been told I am free to ride elsewhere as well as the more laps I get the better I will progress.” Team boss Laurence Rogers is pleased with adding Parker to the Vikings squad, “ I watched his progress last year and kept in contact with him. He has had several teams after him and he will be seen in a few team colours as he wants to get in as much racing as he can.” “ We have interest in a few other youngsters who could well feature in the Vikings side as the season progresses. We are trying to blood some new talent in our MDL side this year although when the National League fixtures allow local lad Conor Dwyer will also feature as he needs as much track action as he can get .”
